1: Frederick McKinley Jones was an African-American inventor born May 17,1893

2: When Fred was just a few months old, his mother walked out on him and his father.A couple years later, Frederick got a hold of his fathers wrist watch. Fred opened it up from the back and ended up with a cogwheel factory! | He carefully studied the cogwheels and was amazed about how many there where. He was also interested in how it worked and why it ticked. As Frederick grew up, he enjoyed taking things apart and putting them back together.His father never scalded him for taking things apart such as wagon wheels, watches, ect. When frederick was 9 a priest told him his father died. That was a lot of pain to Frederick.So he was later orphaned. At age 11, Fred dropped out of school and ran away from rectory.

4: Frederick Jones picked up a small job as a helper for a mechanic. By the time he was 14, he had a full-time engineer.1 year later he joined the auto mechanics garage. When he turned 24, he went to basic training for the army. After basic training he was later shipped to France in the front-line division. Years later he earned the rank of a sergeant.

6: Throughout his lifetime he was an excellent mechanic and invented many things such as the refridgerated car, truck, and even refrigderated cargo ships. He also invented one of the first racecars. Throughout his career, he earned 61 patents for his inventions!

8: Frederick Mckinley Jones died of lung cancer April 15, 1961.

9: Frederick Jones was inducted into the Minnesota Inventor's Hall of Fame!
