FC: Geography Is Everywhere | Arnela Jusupovic Johannes- 3B

PLACE | SPACE-TIME COMPRESSION | ABSOLUTE LOCATION | SCALE | The park is a space with definite borders that has meaning to most people. | The address of my house is an exact location on the Earth's surface. | Model airplanes are the same proportion as real ones, but on a smaller scale. | Buying things online saves time, because you don't have to drive to the store. | CENTRAL CONCEPTS

PERIPHERY | HIERARCHICAL DIFFUSION | I live in Plano, which is the periphery of the functional region DFW. | The iPhone was started by Apple, (hearth) then spread to other people, and I am one of them. | SPATIAL

CORE | RELOCATION DIFFUSION | My grandparents live in Dallas, which is the core of the functional region DFW. | My favorite Asian restaurant came from Asia and relocated here in the US, and now I am able to eat there too. | INTERACTIONS

G E O G R A P H I C | CHLOROPLETH MAP | PROJECTION | An example of a chloropleth map is an election map. Whenever elections come around, I can look at these to see who is likely to win. | A globe is a projection of the world. I use this often when I need to find a place, and it is on a smaller scale then the actual world, so it's much easier to use.

T O O L S | ISOLINE MAP | MENTAL MAP | An isoline map's most common example is a weather map. I watch the news every morning and when I watch the weather, they use isoline maps. | I have a mental map of my neighborhood in my head. It is not exact and accurate, but it is how I see it.

MODELS | We use models in science to predict what would happen if we tested experiments even further. | I see models on TV during commercials when companies try to convince me to buy something. They use models to show statistics.

When I vote in polls online, the overall votes are displayed usually in a model. | When I receive my grades back on tests such as the TAKS test, the results are displayed in models to show where I need improvement and where I excel in.

GEOGRAPHIC | Google Earth is an example of GIS because it layers different data such as restaurants, banks, pharmacies and more. | The navigation in my Mom's car is a GPS because it tells us where we are on the Earth's surface.

TECHNOLOGY | NASA uses remote sensing to learn more detailed information about the world we are living in, then informs us, the public, so we are educated as well. | The news uses aerial photography to cover news stories and show pictures from an aerial view, such as when the Bastrop wild fires happened.
