Lennie found this on the road and tried to hide it from me. I knew he had killed the poor thing. Lennie ain't the smartest guy on the ranch, but he sure as hell is the strongest. He's an ox. He doesn't know his own strength. He can't handle small animals and if he does he'll end up killin' it by accident. | Back when we worked in Weed, Lennie saw a lady wearing a nice dress. He began to touch it and he startled the lady. Lennie panicked and didn't know what to do. He held on to her dress and would not let go. He meant no harm but he did not know what to do. Anyway, after that incident, we got chased out of Weed. Thats what put us out on the road headed to a new ranch where a job awaited us.

This is a picture of Candy's dog. He was a good dog but a ranch-hand had to put him down. | This is from the burlap mattresses we slept on at the ranch. I hated sleeping on those rough, itchy burlap mattresses in the bunkhouse. I could never get a good nights rest in that bed.

Slims dog had a couple of pups. He offered one of the puppies to Lennie out of a kind gesture. I thanked him for his kindness but told him it wasn't a good idea, but Lennie accepted. I knew this was very important to Lennie but i did not want him to accidentally kill the pup. I convinced him that he was taking the puppy away from it's mother, and he returned it to the litter. | This single piece of barley always makes me look back on all the times Lennie and I have spent buckin' barley. Not all of them were good times of course , work ain't always fun, but sometimes i really enjoyed being out there with Lennie. He was great at it.

This is similar to my first paycheck on the ranch. Looking at this gives me the same feeling and thought i had when I first received the check. I knew that after a month of work there, me and Lennie would be able to put a down payment on a house. | This is the tissue that slim used to help Lennie wipe the blood from his face on their way to the doctor. I found it on the ground just outside of the barn. Lennie got into a fight with Curley and it wasn't pretty. Lennie ended up breaking his right hand.

This is a piece of a old wooden chair that Lennie had broken when he was mad because Crooks told him i might never return when i left town, and he thought someone had hurt me. He got so mad he started breaking things, almost broke Crooks himself. | I Found this next to the body of Curley's lifeless wife. I picked it up without even thinking about it. All I could think about was finding Lennie before Curley's men did. I did find him before them, but i knew they would kill him painfully so I made a decision, the hardest decision of my life.

Looking at this picture and any rabbits makes me think of Lennie. Whenever I would tell him about the house we would one day have, he would always ask if he could tend the rabbits, and i told him he could. and i wasn't lying. I wish things could have ended up better and Lennie could still be here. | The gun i used that day on the river bed.
