FC: American History Great Depression Mixbook

The Great Depression was hard on everyone.

 No one had any money

forced out of their homes by debt most people lived in shacks

 1. The Great Depression was caused by a number of things. The main cause of it was the Stock Market crash on Black Thursday. Also part of the cause was because of people taking out loans that they couldn't pay back to the banks causing the banks to fail and people to lose all their savings. Also businesses then began to fail and then people were laid off. Then because no people weren't working they didn't make any money to buy anything and more businesses failed putting the economy in a tailspin downwards.

 2. The great depression lasted from 1929 to 1941 a 12 year period of time in which almost no one had a job to make money. The economy didn't fully recover until the US entered WWII and began producing war units. 3. Life during the depression was horrible. No one had a job to buy food for their families. Farmers who could at least grow food for themselves faced the dust bowl in which no crop could grow. People who were once rich had absolutely nothing. Children were starving and most people lost their houses due to debts.

 4. Everyone was effected by the Great Depression even people not in America. Farmers lost their farms from debt all workers lost their jobs in factories. Even the rich suffered because they had invested so heavily in the Stock Market. Foreign people suffered from America not buying any products and causing them to lose money and jobs. 5. The Great Depression ended with America's enter into WWII with the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. The enter into the war called for more tanks, guns, planes, and warships so people who had no job were employed in factories to make parts for the war and young men found a job in the Army, Navy, or Marine Corps

The Great Depression caused a world wide depression that didn't end until WWII
