HOLOCAUST - Page Text Content

 Persecuted ..

 Abandoned ..

 Abused ..

 Malnourished ..

 Imprisoned ..

 And the innocent ..

These are the horrendous events the people received as an effect of the Holocaust

The Holocaust is what is known as the mass killing, or Genocide, of Jews, Homosexuals, Gypsies, Jehovah's witnesses and the disabled. | Although many ethnic groups were targeted, Jews were targeted most.

 Make you think a little?

Men, women, children, of all ages, and the elderly were removed out of there homes and put into concentration camps. There were two kinds of concentration camps; Death Camps and Work Camps. Dachau , one of the first Nazi concentration camps, opened in March 1933, and at first interned only known political opponents of the Nazis: Communists, Social Democrats, and others who had been condemned in a court of law. Gradually, a more diverse group was imprisoned, including Jews, Jehovah's Witnesses, Gypsies , dissenting clergy, homosexuals, as well as others who were denounced for making critical remarks about the Nazis.Six death or extermination camps were constructed in Poland. These so-called death factories were Auschwitz-Birkenau, Treblinka, Belzec , Sobibór, Lublin (also called Majdanek ), and Chelmno . The primary purpose of these camps was the methodical killing of millions of innocent people. The first, Chelmno, began operating in late 1941. The others began their operations in 1942.

Can you imagine being persecuted for being a certain religion? That is like being persecuted for having brown hair and green eyes, or being under 6 feet tall.

The holocaust was said to last about six and a half years. After all that time Hitler and his "crew' managed to kill about 11 million people, while 6 million of them being Jews. It was not that Hitler decided to stop murdering Jews, it's that he started to run out of Jews to kill! It wasn't until 1945 when American Troops liberated the survivors that the killings stopped for good. Now let me ask you something; what would you do as "revenge" to Aldof HItler? Go kill him? Well the Jewish survivors did no such thing; they simply picked up the pieces left of their life and started to recover from all the pain of loosing their family's and started to rebuild their lives with what they were blessed with. To me it takes a lot of courage for one to not get any revenge on someone who has almost completely destroyed you, your family and everything you have ever known. These Jews are not just survivors but Hero"s to us all.

The Holocaust was not just something that happened in history, it is something that changed the world forever.
