FC: How a Bill Becomes a Law
Begin A bill starts from someone's idea or change they would like to make so they create a bill hoping it will become a law!
Propose After someone comes up with a bill a member of congress must formally introduce the bill in congress by it's sponsor!
Introduce The Bill is then introduced when the House is in session. It's placed in a special box call the hopper!
Committee The Bill is then sent to a committee where they place it on their calender, then considered for changes and voted on!
Refer to Senate If the Bill passes in the House, it is then sent to the Senate for further approval! When it is offcially passed by both the House and the Senate it is "engrossed."
Bill is Enrolled Once the Bill is passed by House and Senate it is then sent to be enrolled, or approved and signatured by the President!
Law or Veto The President can choose to either pass the Bill and make it become a law, or veto the Bill!
