FC: How Birds Got Wings
An amazing story about how birds got wings by Cameron Pepe.
Back during the beginning of time, birds had no wings because they didn’t need any. They had superb leg strength. They lived in the woods because if there were danger around, they would just leap into a tree and be safe from danger’s harm. Many of them also made a burden inside the ground if a low enough trees weren’t around.
Though they had amazing leg strength, they did not have leg quickness. Many of them were ambushed by stealthy animals.
The almighty God was very mad at the attacking animals for killing His creatures and was wondering what to do. After days of thinking, He finally decided to send the oceans in over the land to drown any animal in its path.
This happened only once before and birds passed on the legend of a gigantic wave totaling all the land. They said it started with water being pulled back from the ocean. It then came with a wave over fifty feet tall covering the land.
God put his plan to action and took all the water away.
God then realized his flaw, what about the birds? They weren’t the cause of this destruction. They were helpless because the water would wash away the trees and they had no source of elevation to get away from the fatal rushing waters.
When God made the water detract, the birds knew what was going to happen and also knew they would not survive the wave: none of their ancestors did. All the helpless birds could do was pray and beg to God and hope they would get something out of it someway. They wanted a floatation device or something to help them survive. God decided that he could make the birds special and have wings to fly and soar over the killing waters.
He gave the birds wings. The birds felt something on their shoulders and saw a wing on each shoulder. They also felt their new muscles in their body. They stretched their wings and they caught the breeze and went souring high into the sky. Almost all of them where frightened that they were up so high. They started waving their wings in panic and then realized that they had to move their wings to control where they were going.
Then the huge tidal wave appeared on the horizon. The birds saw this and almost instantly knew why they were given these wings, they all flew higher to get away from the giant wave coming toward them. The giant wave passed under them. After the wave, all that was left in the water’s path was more water.
The birds didn’t know what to do. Already their wings were getting tired and they needed a rest. They found a highland and they all rested there.
Birds still wings today. Without God, the birds would still be wingless and more vulnerable than ever.
