S: ADOPTION...another name for LOVE by Jamie and Steve

BC: Thank you for considering us! | Jamie & Steve

FC: ADOPTION...another name for | LOVE | Steve and Jamie

Welcome | Hello! We are Steve and Jamie from the beautiful mountains and city of Denver, Colorado. Thank you for taking the time to get to know us as you embark on making one of the most important and difficult decisions of your life. We have the utmost respect for the courage, strength and determination it must take to consider adoption as an option for your unborn child. | Why Adoption for Us? Why Now? Well, it might help to start at the beginning. of our life together... We are both tall - Steve's 6'5" and Jamie's 6'0". We met in 1993 when Jamie moved from Atlanta to Pittsburgh to accept a job with a major national bank. Prior to moving, Jamie was active in Tall Clubs International - so she contacted the local chapter as soon as she arrived. It was there we met and immediately fell in love. We were married two years later - on a beautiful, sunny summer's day in 1995 overlooking a farm in Pennsylvania Dutch Country. Our officiant was the mayor of a small, quaint town who was our own, personal "Wizard of Oz" - in that he looked like the wizard and made our first dream come true - starting our life together as husband and wife. | Snowshoeing in Frisco December 24, 2010

 Our Family

Many people say marriage is hard work. In our fifteen years together, this has never been the case. A sincere "I love you" are the first words we both say and hear as soon as we awake to the sunrise every morning (accompanied by wet, sloppy kisses from Rusty - our twelve-year-old chocolate labrador "puppy"). | Steve Receiving his Master's Degree | We've always supported one another in our goals - advancing in our careers and both obtaining graduate degrees while working part-time. It took us more time than most couples to realize that what matters most is something much bigger than the wonderful life the two of us share...providing guidance, support and care in the life of a child and creating a family that exists far beyond either of our lifetimes. Five years ago, we knew in our hearts that it was time to start a family. | Jamie Receiving her MBA | Like many couples wishing to adopt, the infertility journey for us has been long and difficult - multiple surgeries, turning to the help of an egg donor, days timed by doses of strong drugs, exclamations of excitement when the blood test came back positive...each confirmed pregnancy followed by the heartbreaking disappointment of a miscarriage in the first few weeks of life - before seeing a heartbeat on the ultrasound. We know a child is waiting for us somewhere in the universe, but like many good things in life, we just have to work a little harder and wait a little longer than most couples to experience the day when we get to meet, look into the eyes and hold in our arms the precious soul who was always destined to join us. The day we can finally transition from a loving "couple" into a beautiful "family".

Jamie grew up in New York in a suburb of Manhattan. As a young child, her fondest memories are of frequent visits to the city - trips to the Bronx Zoo, ice skating at Rockefeller Center during the holiday season, getting last-minute standing-row tickets to Broadway shows. She has one younger sister who still lives in Manhattan with her husband and our one-year-old nephew. | After college, Jamie moved to Atlanta, Georgia to start her own business as a real estate appraiser. | One day, she was offered an excellent opportunity to relocate to Pittsburgh - and that's when she met Steve. Shortly after getting married, Jamie and Steve moved to Atlanta together, bought a house and adopted their first dog from the pound, Sophie. | Jamie at her first "real" job | Sophie then 2 years... | ...and now - 15 years.

Currently, Jamie directs external communications for a US-based financial services company. She enjoys her job because her industry helps people achieve their financial goals and dreams - like sending their kids to college and retiring knowing they're financially stable. | Hiking | Volunteering in Sri Lanka one year after the tsunami | Reading - Jamie's in two book clubs | Traveling Machu Picchu, Peru | Walking in the Breast Cancer 3-Day | Hiking

Hiking in Utah | One foot in each hemisphere in Ecuador | Caring for baby sea turtles in Mexico | Visiting a school in the Amazon jungle | Monkeying around in Singapore | Jamie loves to travel frugally. She seeks out hidden treasures that are "off-the-tourist-track" and has fun learning about different cultures. As much as we enjoy traveling, we're more excited about settling down and starting our family.

Jamie's dad and his long-time girlfriend live in south Florida - just a few hours drive from one of the happiest places on earth - Disney World! | Jamie's mom and her long-term boyfriend live outside Las Vegas and love to play golf. | Jamie has always had a close relationship with her parents... | Jamie & Dad | Dad & Anita | Mom & Roy | Jamie & Mom

 About STeve

Steve grew up in a steel town in western Pennsylvania. As a young boy, he loved to play with his brother and their friends outside and read comic books - especially ones from the 1950's that he inherited from his uncle. Steve always loved math and attained a perfect score on his math SATs when it was time to enter college. Even today, he will pick up a calculus book to read for pleasure. After graduating college, Steve became a pension actuary. Seeing that companies were eliminating their pensions, he went back to school to pursue his master's degree and today works as a risk analyst for a large financial institution. Steve likes to spend time in the kitchen. His specialties are hot, fresh bread in the winter and homemade ice cream in summer. Steve never lost his passion for the outdoors and volunteers with our local county through their park patrol program. | Harbor B ridge Climb Sydney, Australia | Volunteering on Park Patrol

Steve has one brother who has been married to his high-school sweetheart for almost 20 years. They live in eastern Pennsylvania and have two pre-teen daughters who are looking forward to being cousins. | Steve then... | and now... | Steve's parents are retired and live in the same town where he grew up. They love spending time with their two granddaughters and are active in their local community.

Our Home and Neighborhood Although our house was built recently, we live in an older. middle-class neighborhood of Denver where there are many families with children. When you look out our kitchen window, you can often see our neighbors' horses, goats and chickens. Right beside our bedroom is a second, smaller bedroom - perfect for a nursery. Our large, fenced backyard is the ideal setting for a play set. We are friends with many of our neighbors and enjoy spending time with them at summertime barbecues, cookie bakes, movie nights and homemade dinners at one another's homes.

Our neighborhood is known for its sweeping mountain views, brilliant sunsets, and strong sense of community. At the end of our street is a 250-acre nature park, lake and wildlife preserve with 6.5 miles of trails. - always filled with families walking, horseback riding, biking and roller blading. | Within walking distance are many public amenities, including schools, our city's main library, a park with a playground, outdoor pool, sports fields, picnic sheds and tennis courts, and a beautiful 70,000 sf recreation center with an indoor pool, sports courts, and a variety of classes, such as art, music, dance and martial arts. | Library | Outdoor Pool | Playground | Recreation Center | Enjoying a Winter Walk in the Park
