1: Jim Bridger was born on march 17, 1804

2: with out Jim Bridger we might not know about the west

4: orphaned at 13. He became a blacksmith

5: At the blacksmith shop there was a wanted sign for a fur trapping expedition | At 18 Jim Bridger accepted the offer and started a life as a mountain man

6: He would then become a mountain man for the next 20 years

7: He discovered the great salt lake

8: Jim also shortened the Oregon trail by 61 miles

9: "The friends we meet on the path of life make the trip worth while." | he built Fort Bridger this would become a vital trading spot

10: Fur declined

11: He was forced to retire on 1868

12: Jim was known as "king of the mountain men"

13: Jim was a great man who had man things named after him | Fort Bridger Bridger, Montana Bridger bowl ski area Bridger-Teton national forest Bridger mountains

14: Jim Bridger died at the age of 77
