2: John Cabot was born in 1450-1499. When he was a child, he grew up in Venice with his family. He also wanted to become an explorer. He made that dream come true. | In 1496, John Cabot made his first attempt at sailing. He was unsuccessful and lost his men, supplies and a window of opportunity. He sailed again in 1497, and this time he had lots of crew members, along with supplies and bigger, more sturdier ships. When he was sailing, he found what is now Newfoundland on June 24,1497. He found Quebec, Canada after claiming Newfoundland.

3: He planned out his route before the exploration. He was going to sail from Bristol, England and go towards South America and Africa and go back up to Quebec.

4: Cabot sailed with 18 men and had 3 ships. His son, Sebastian Cabot was on the voyage with him.

5: The obstacles that Cabot encountered were starvation and disease, the fear of unknown for his crew, lack of supplies and poor navigational tools.

6: His accomplishments during his voyage were finding Newfoundland for his country, claiming lots of territory and also found a part of North America.

7: One year later in 1498, Cabot sailed again and this time, he had 200 men on board and many supplies. He wasn't successful and got lost at sea. | Other Facts: | His real name was Giovanni Cabot and he and his parents moved to Venice when he was a child so he spent his childhood there.

8: John Cabot sailed for England. It's capital is London and it is not connected to Europe. It is also called the UK.
