1: Mark Twain was born on November 30, 1835 in Florida, Missouri with his 6 brothers and sisters. Mark’s father owned 1 slave and his uncle owned several slaves so, Mark enjoyed listening to stories from the slaves. The stories that he heard helped him come up with the interesting stories in his books.
2: Mark went to Nevada and wrote for Territorial Enterprise. Sam then went to San Francisco and wrote for more local papers. His big break was in 1855 when he was 20. He wrote his short story, “Jim Smiley and His Jumping Frog” and went in papers across the world. Then he got hired by the Sacramento Union to visit other places around the world.
3: Mark saw a picture from Charles Langdon, Olivia’s brother, and he showed Mark a picture of her. He knew he had to marry her and in 1870 they got married. They had 4 children; Langdon, who died at 2 years old, Susy, Jean, and Clara.
4: Sam moved to many places over his lifetime. For example, he moved from Florida, Missouri to Hannbial, Missouri. He also met his wife, Olivia in New York City while he lived there. The last place he lived was Hartford, Connecticut.
