ignore this page. i couldn't delete it.

Tumblr is a website created for people to be able to express yourself and post things and not get judged because of it. | Many blogs post mainly pictures of skinny, pretty girls.

I feel like people do that to make their blog more attractive and to gain more followers. | And Tumblr isn't about gaining followers.

Whenever I log onto Facebook and go to the newsfeed, I see many pictures that people post.

I Googled "beauty" and these are the pictures that came up.

My Family | Catrinna Swenson | (Mom) | My mother believes that beauty is what you look like, not how you act. She thinks someone is beautiful based on their appearance. | My brother believes that beauty is equally based on what you look like and on your personality.

My sister has the same opinion as my mother about beauty. Her definition of beauty is defined by what you look like. | My family (as well as the media) has influenced me to think that beauty is based on appearance. Now that I am older, I understand that looking good isn't the only thing that makes you beautiful, your personality also makes you beautiful.

Female Peers | Girls base beauty off of what you look like on the outside as well as on the inside, but mainly on the outside. Most teenage girls think that you have to wear cute clothes, have nice hair, and be pretty to be considered beautiful. This idea has somewhat influenced me to believe that your appearance does matter and will always be judged.

Male Peers | I feel like the boys at my school think beauty is based on appearances. Most guys only like skinny, "pretty" girls. Some guys don't think that way, but a majority of them do. | This is the ideal girl for 75% of the guys at my school (in my opinion)

 Television

Television has often made me feel insecure. There are so many skinny and pretty girls on t.v. and whenever I watch t.v. i think "wow, i wish i looked like her." It sometimes changes my perception of beauty. Some days i think that beauty is all about whats on the outside.

 Tamara Roundtree | Age: 12

What do you think beauty is? | Like what? | QUESTIONS | ANSWERS | Do you think that T.V. made you think that that is what beauty is? | I think beauty is when you look pretty. | What do you mean when you say "beauty is when you look pretty?" | I mean, when you are skinny, have nice hair, and dress pretty. | Yeah, I guess. But there are other things too. | The kids at my school. | What do they think beauty is? | Same thing as me. When you are pretty.

 Phyllis Crumble | Age: 67

QUESTIONS | ANSWERS | What is your definition of beauty? | Where do your influences of beauty come from? | Does the media have an influence on your definition of beauty? | When you are nice, sweet, and just have a beautiful soul. | Do you think that the idea of beauty has anything to do with the exterior appearance? | Well sure, it plays a small part in it, but it's mostly about your personality. | Life experiences. I have met a lot people with an ugly attitude, and a lot of people with a beautiful one. That is mostly where my influences come from. | Yes. The media is very persuasive and it's all around me. So obviously it's going to have some kind of influence on me, even if it's a small influence.
