Round/Dynamic Character | My brother Louis would definitely be a dynamic character in my life. When we were younger we would fight a lot and sometimes have trouble getting along. He seemed to always be busy with his friends or video games to talk with me or anything. Now since we are both teenagers, we have matured and pretty much get along all the time. We have actually become closer in the past few years and can talk to each other about anything. He gives me advice on different areas of life and I do the same for him. Even though some days he may be grumpy and want to have nothing to do with me, he still is my brother and I love him.
Setting | Ocean City Maryland has been a place that I have been going to for as long as I can remember. My grandparents use to own a condo on Coastal Highway and the corner of Dolphin Street that we would go to each summer for around two weeks. The place had four rooms and a balcony and a pool for all condo renters to use. This was the place where I felt at home away from home. Besides the condo, there were other places in Ocean City that I love. The arcade was on the boardwalk and my brothers and I would spend some time in there playing games and trying to win prizes. Of course with all the good food in Ocean City, little time was spent in the arcades. Captain's Galley is a restaurant that has the best crab cakes in the whole world. For every time we visit Ocean City it is a must that we hit that restaurant before we leave. Phillips Buffet and Restaurant is also another Guyer family favorite. Every time we go there my family pigs out for about 2 hours. Then we would walk to the boardwalk to get ice cream at our favorite place, The Alaska Stand.
The smell of all the food on the boardwalk and the smell of the ocean are comforting scents to be. Although my grandparents sold their condo my family continued going to Ocean City. With out Ocean City many great memories I have would not exist.
Foreshadowing | This past few years the economy has been getting worse and worse so my dad stresses out more and more about money. I never really thought this would have any effect on my life, but it did. At first it was just little things like my dad saying something about turning lights off when your not using them or keeping windows and doors shut when the A.C. or heat is on. During this time all my brothers and I were going to catholic school which had a pretty high tuition. This was a major cost but we had been paying it for years so I thought nothing about it. Little did I know two years later I would be switching to public school because of money. This change in the economy foreshadowed the fact that I would have to leave catholic school and switch to public school in order to save money.
Internal Conflict | I had an internal conflict last year when I had to manage my social life and school at the same time. It was difficult because I wanted to go hang out with my friends but I should have been doing my schoolwork. I eventually got my priorities straightened out and was able to get school work done and get to hang out and go to parties with my friends.
Theme | A theme in my life would have to be to always work hard. From the time your a child to your adult days it is important to work hard and not be lazy. My parents have always stressed to my brothers and I that we should always work as hard as we can to be the best that we can be at something. God gave us a talent so use it to the fullest and not waste it. For my sports, they have said if you want to be good at something you have to work at it. They want me to work hard at practice but more importantly outside of practice. Also for school, my parents believe that I am really smart so I should do well in school. They expect good things out
of me. So, from my parents, I have learned to be a hard worker and use whatever God has given me to the fullest.
Climax | I remember the day like it was yesterday: May 2, 2005. It was a beautiful day. This was the day my baby brother Jude was born. During this time I would have to say it would be a high point in my life. I had just received the sacrament of Holy Communion a few days before so my life had been doing so well. I remember being just so happy all the time because Jude was so adorable. To this day, my family and I are so glad God has given our family Jude.
A family is pieced together with hope and faith. A family is quilted and bound with love and grace.
