2: Ordinary World Mulan, a bright and high ambition girl, was born in the ancient Chinese family. She is trained to bring good fortune and honor to her family. She wants her parents to be proud of her, but often self-defeating. Mulan lives in her comfortable home with her family and friends.

3: Call to Adventure When her elderly father was called to fight against the increasing invasion of the Huns, Mulan, worried about the safety of her father, decided to disguised as a man and replaced her father to serve the emperor. This interrupts her ordinary world and forces her to begins her journey.

4: Refusal of the Call Mulan does not want to leave her family and was afraid to bring humiliation to her family if her identity was discovered by someone. But she realizes that she must go on her own.

5: Meeting with the Mentor Mulan's spiritual ancestors have a meeting to discuss how to help Mulan. Mushu is sent to accompany Mulan through her trials and gives her moral support and encouragement. Mushu teaches her how to imitate as a soldier and reminds her not to give up during her depression.

6: Crossing the First Threshold Mulan enters the army training camp which was full of men. Mulan, the only woman in the camp, has to pretend to fit it with them. Mulan takes the first step to her journey and this scene separates her ordinary world from the special world.

7: Tests Her test was to be a well-train soldier and fight against the Huns. She wants to bring honor to her family by defeat the Huns. | Allies Mulan met captain Shang-Li who trains her to be a skilled soldier. She also met Yao, Ling, and Chien-Po who help her fight Shan-Yu. | Enemies Her biggest enemy is Shan-Yu who wants to destroy the kingdom. Mulan met Chi-Fu who tries to kill her when he find out that she is a woman.

8: Approach to the Inmost Cave When they arrive at a village they discover that General Li and his soldiers have been wiped out by the Huns. As they leave the mountains, Huns ambushed them. Mulan use a cannon and buries most of the enemy! But she is injury and required a medical attention. This scene is Mulan's biggest challenge in her journey, either save the kingdom or been killed by the Huns. They are the only soldiers that can save their kingdom.

9: Ordeal/Death Experience The soldiers find out that Mulan is a woman. Chi-Fu tries to kill Mulan, but Shang-Li saves her. She put disgrace upon her family and friends. She faces her greatest fear and failure mentally.

10: Reward Although Mulan was abandoned in the frozen mountain, her initial goal of going to the war for her father was met. Mulan recognizes that she went to the battle not just for her father, but also wants to prove she could do something right and brings honor to her family. She overcomes the fear of failure and realizes that she can still protect her kingdom.

11: The Road Back Mulan saw a small number of surviving Huns who went to the imperial city and tries to kill the emperor. She wants to warn this news to Shang-Li to save her kingdom. Mulan completed her journey as a skilled soldier and return to her ordinary world.

12: Resurrection Hun Shan-Yu chases Mulan through the palace and almost kills the emperor as well as Mulan. Mulan risked her own life to fight Hun Shan-Yu. With her talent which she had learned from her journey and the help of her friend, Mulan saves the kingdom.

13: Return with Elixir Mulan returns home with honor and carrying the Hun's sword and a pendant from the emperor. She accomplished her goals and understands cruelty of war and greatness of honor. She realizes without the battle and other soldiers she would not be a new person.
