1: Early Life | Mark twain was raised in Hannibal, Missouri, and born in 1835 to John Marshall and Jane Clemens. When Twain was 11, he was a printer’s apprentice, and was very mischevious as a child. Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn, two of Twain’s most famous books, were loosely based on his childhood.
2: Personal Life | Twain married Olivia Langdon in 1870, and had four children, Langdon, Susy, Clara, and Jean (though Langdon died of Diptheria at 19 months.) Twain died from a heart attack on April 21st, 1910.
3: Twain's Writing | Mark Twain is one of America’s most famous writers, writing classics like Tom Sawyer, Innocents Abroad, and Huckleberry Finn, perhaps one of his most controversial work for its alleged racism. Mark Twain started his writing career writing light and humorous pieces, but as time grew on, he changed in to writing dark and gory books. Mark wrote Tom Sawyer in his early career, and Huck Finn in his mid-early career.
4: Mark Twain’s real name is Samuel Clemens; He uses Mark Twain as a pseudonym. In addition to writing realistic/ historical fiction and autobiographies, Mark was also one of the first in America to write science fiction, with his book A Conneticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court. He was known as a “stand up comedian” for his time, making hilarious political jabs and having a lot of humor in his books. | Interesting Facts
