FC: The interview
1: What was your house like? How many rooms?Did it have electricity? Indoor pluming? Telephones? "It was a two story house it had 7 rooms and one bath. It did have electric, indoor pluming and telephones." | Were there other family members in the area ? Who? "I had a sister and a brother in town when i was growing up "
2: Describe your family members. "My dad was quite and my mom ran the house." | Were there any special items in the house you remember? "In our basement we had a wall made out of rocks."
3: What was your favorite toy and why? "My Favorite toy was my red schwine bike because i could ride to my friends house." | What kind of games did you play growing up? "We used t play kick the can, hide and seek,Baseball, Basketball, football."
4: What school activities and sports did you participate in? "I played basketball and baseball, but i played football in high school." | What was your favorite thing to do? "We used to go down to my uncles camp and play at the playground behind my house."
5: Did you have any pets? If so, what kind and were their names? "Yeah i had A dog he was part chocker spaniel and part terrier its name was pudgy." | Who were your childhood heroes? "My child hood heroes were would have to be superman and the green hornet."
6: Who were your friends when you were growing up? "One was Allen Fisher another was Ron Olker he died already, and then i had nieghbors." | Were you ever mentioned in a newspaper? for what? "Yes i was mentioned when i played football, when i retired, and when i got married."
7: What were holidays like in your family? Did your family have any special traditions? "we used to always h big picnik on the fourth of July and on Christmas we would always go to midnight mass and decorate the Christmas tree that night. " | Describe a typical family dinner. Did you all eat together as a family? Who did the cooking? what were your favorite foods? "Sunday we always had fried chicken or roast, and Monday we had chicken pot pies. My mother cooked every night."
8: When and how did you meet your spouse? "We met at the Maidrite its a sandwich shop in Quincy IL." | Are there any Physical characteristics that run in your family? "Most of us have to wear glasses but thats about it."
9: What memory did you remember most from your wedding day? "My brother told me That there was a door on the side of the church and if i wanted to i could leave" | Where and when did you get married? "We got married on Halloween. October 31, 1959 at st. Franis in Quincy IL."
10: Why did you choose your children's name? "We heard the name and we just loved it." | How did you find out you were going to be a parent? "We had our name down for adoption but then the doctor told us we were going to have a baby."
11: What did your family enjoy doing together? "They really enjoyed when we went to Florida, we went there twice." | What was your proudest moments as a parent? "I was Proud of them when they went to collage and then moving out."
12: What accomplishments were you most proud of in your life so far? "So far it would have to be living to 73 and raising two amazing girls." | Out of all the things you have learned from being a parent what do you think is most valuable? "The skills to be able to talk to my girls and other people."
13: What is one thing you most want people to remember you for? "I hope that people mostly remember me as a person that was always fun to be around, enjoyed my life, and that was a good parent, friend, and husband."
