S: Astro's Diary

BC: This book belongs to Carly!

FC: Carly's Diary

1: This book is dedicated to my 6th grade pod: The Orion Team

2: Dear Diary, I was just born seconds ago, that means I am at the first stage of a star. The first stage of the star is called a Nebula and that means that now I am just a ball of gas and dust. I was created when the gravity pulls the gas and dust into a sphere. As my sphere gets denser I get hot and the nuclear fusion begins. Nuclear fusion is when the hydrogen turns into helium. I am at the beginning of my long life cycle. From, Carly<3

3: Say cheese, this is my first baby picture when I was at my Nebula stage. Picture found at Google images

4: Dear Diary, Since I last wrote to you, I have entered my next stage of the star. Now I am a main-sequence star. The main-sequence star means that I am now on the location of the H-R diagram where most stars are. Also the sun is a main-sequence star too. I am a blue star so I will not be in the main sequence stage very long. I won’t be here long because I am going to, quickly use the hydrogen in my core and then I will turn into a supergiant or a giant. From, Carly<3

5: This is me, as a main sequence star!

6: Dear Diary, I am now a supergiant yea I grew quickly! Now that I am a supergiant, all of the hydrogen in my core is gone. So the inside of me shrinks. Also the outside of me is growing bigger. I am very massive so I am a supergiant instead of just a giant. Also my atmosphere is growing and getting colder. From, Carly<3

7: This is me right after i became a supergiant! Image found at google images

8: Dear Diary, I’m sad to say now I am just a white dwarf, how this happened, let me explain. I am now just the leftover center of my star. I am very close to the end of my life cycle. Am get hotter and hotter and eventually I will die. I can’t continue to produce energy. All of my hydrogen has left me. From, Carly <3 P.S. I think this might be my last time writing to you.

9: This the last picture of me taken. Picture found on google images
