While he was injured he took up the career of writing. He wrote his first novel during this time but it was not published.

He graduated in 1988 and later met his wife Cathy. | Later that year however his mom got in a tragic horseback riding accident and died at age 47. After the accident Cathy and Nicholas moved to Sacramento where he continued to write.

In 1944 Sparks teamed up with Billy Mills to publish his first book, Wokini:A lakota Journey to Happiness and Self Understanding, it sold moderately well.

A Smile As Sweet As Spring | In 1992 Nicholas and Cathy had their first son. Their budget was tight so Nicholas decided to write three more novels and if none of them published he would move on to a different career.

BOOKS BY NICHOLAS SPARKS: Wokini: A Lakota Journey to happiness and Self Understanding The Notebook The Rescue A Bend in the Road Nights in Rodanthe The Wedding Dear John The Lucky One Three Weeks With my Brother

"Blossom by blossom the spring begins" | Dear John is a very touching story about a rebel boy, John Tyree, and his his father, who suffers with Asperger's syndrome and a couple who is trying to share there love connection while John is stationed over seas in Germany.

My favorite part of the book is probably at the end when John realizes what true love really means.

Also one of my favorite parts is at the end when John is staring at the full moon and sees Savannah come out and look at it too, it was a very touching moment. | It's a beautiful day, don't let it get away.
