“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.” ~James 1:17 We would like to say a heartfelt “hello” to the woman who is holding this book. This was not an easy project for us, as we came to the realization that these pages contain a summary of our lives thus far. We are hopeful parents, as are the authors of the other books that you might be looking through. Regardless of your decision, we want you to know that we admire you for what you are doing for your child. You might be going through a period of soul-searching and you might be seeking answers. It is our hope that, beyond all else, you find support and comfort wherever you turn. We have discussed adoption since the early days of our relationship and truly feel joy in this path to building our family. Kelly, as an adoptee, knows firsthand the love that comes from adoption. Adopted as a newborn, she grew up knowing that the decision made by her birth mom was truly made out of love. She has always wanted to pass this love onto a child of her own.
We are grateful that you are taking the time to look at our profile book! We hope that as you look through it, we can provide a glimpse into our lives. We are blessed in so many ways and are truly grateful for the love we have in our lives and cannot wait to share it with a little one. Our hope is to add a beautiful child to our family picture! So, with these thoughts in mind, we ask that you take your time as you glance through this book. Laugh at the corny pictures of us oh, what the heck, laugh at the serious ones too if you want. We’re not always the “coolest” people, but what could be a more appropriate parental flaw? Well, you’re going to learn plenty about us in the pages ahead, so let’s get started! May God bless you on your journey. Respectfully, Mike and Kelly

We met on a playground (literally) in January 2004. Kelly was teaching at an elementary school in Denver and Mike was working with Catholic Charities. We planned a ski trip together at Keystone, which was followed less than a week later with a Samples concert and a hike the next day. We both moved to northern Virginia later in the spring, got engaged on Valentine's Day 2005 along the Georgetown Canal in Washington, D.C., and got married on May 27, 2007 in Breckenridge, Colorado. We loved living in the DC area, but missed the mountains, as well as Denver's relative proximity to our families. We also agreed that Colorado would be a better place to raise a family. In July 2007, we moved to Littleton. | Our Relationship
Our closest friends and family joined us in the mountains of Colorado for our wedding. Our parents and siblings stayed in a log cabin with us at the top of Hoosier Pass. The cabin also served as the location for our rehearsal dinner and our wedding reception. It was a special day that neither of us will ever forget!

Kelly was adopted as an infant and grew up in a loving home with her parents and one brother. This has played a very important role in our decision to adopt. She feels very blessed and hopes to bring another miracle to our families. Kelly remembers her childhood as a time of fun and family, spent with her parents, grandparents, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She grew up in a home centered on love and faith in God. Her family took many road trips and spent summers traveling to new places and visiting family in Utah, one of her favorite vacation spots! | Kelly
Kelly grew up in Southern California. She had a fun childhood and enjoyed doing things like going to the beach and taking family trips to Disneyland. In high school she played volleyball and ran track. After graduating from high school she went to college in Colorado and then on to graduate school to become an elementary school teacher. She loves what she does and her passion for teaching continues to grow. As an adult Kelly made the decision to become Catholic and was baptized on Easter, 2006. It was a special day and her faith has continued to guide her in her daily life. | Kelly, Mike and Mikes parents (Kelly's godparents) at her baptism | Volleyball | At her brother's high school graduation | With her brother at Thanksgiving
Mike Mike was born in Columbia, Missouri. He is the oldest of five boys in a devout Catholic family. Though he and his brothers spent a lot of time figuring out how to injure each other and destroy things, they have become close friends as adults. Mike attended Truman State University and then went to graduate school at the University of Illinois-Chicago. While in graduate school, he participated in an internship in South Africa.
After completing school, Mike took his first job working as an English teacher in Tokyo, Japan. He returned from Japan and moved to Colorado where he was a ski bum for a few years. Mike then worked at a position at the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. for the next three years. | In 2007, Mike graduated from the law enforcement academy at the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office. He currently works as a patrol deputy in Jefferson County's mountain precinct. His goal is to become a criminal investigator.
Kelly loves to run! Here she was participating in the Wild West Relay with her running club. | One of Mike's oldest hobbies is running. He ran track and cross country in high school and college | Kelly enjoys cooking, especially for her family. This picture was taken on Thanksgiving. His favorite resorts include Breckenridge, Arapahoe Basin, Copper, and Vail. | Kelly grew up fishing with her dad and brother. She still tries to meet them in Utah to fish whenever possible (but she still refuses to clean them!).. | Though he clearly loves being outdoors, Mike has a lot of other interests including reading, photography and movies.
What We Love to Do... | One of the strengths of our relationship is our common interests. We both like to do things outdoors: we like to hike, run, bike, and camp together. On the other hand, we often set aside time to read, to watch movies, or to go to sporting events and concerts together. We are active at our church, St. Mary Littleton. Mike reads at Sunday Mass and is a member of the Knights of Columbus. Kelly is a regular at the Adoration Chapel and is a member of the Respect Life group. | We would like to encourage our children to find things that they are passionate about and to pursue those interests. We cannot wait to share with them in the adventure of life.
Rome, Italy | Florence, Italy | Arenal, Costa Rica | Puerta Vallarta, Mexico
Southern California | London, England | Portland, Oregon | Chicago, Illinois | One of our favorite things to do together is travel. We enjoy experiencing other cultures and beautiful landscapes. We feel that our journeys give us a unique perspective. Since we met, we have visited several countries together, as well as many states.
We enjoy spending the holidays with both family and friends. Thanksgiving is typically with Mike's family. In addition to stuffing ourselves and watching football, we also have a long-standing tradition of a white elephant gift exchange (see bottom picture for incriminating evidence). Christmas Eve is spent at our house with friends and family and we try to spend Christmas with Kelly's family either in Colorado or California. We go to Mass and then spend the day relaxing, opening gifts, and having a delicious meal! | We also enjoy celebrating Easter by going to the Easter Vigil and by hosting Easter dinner. It is an extra special day as it marks the anniversary of Kelly's baptism. Memorial day has become a tradition as well. We run the Bolder Boulder with our friends and then have a BBQ. We are so grateful for the time we get to spend with our loved ones! | Holidays and Traditions
Home Sweet Home | We have lived in our house in Littleton for 4 years. It is a 4 bedroom, 2 bath bi-level house with a big back yard! We envision our back yard as a place our kids will play, explore, and create. Our home is about 1600 square feet. It is just right for the family we hope to start very soon! The funniest addition we have made to our home is our dog Copper. Most of the time he can be found guarding the neighborhood from our front bay window. | This is MIke's baby quilt made by his mom!
