Young With you I'm always speeding It's a fast life and it can't stop here We will never learn our lessons Reckless and invincible We'll never stop Until we come down These eyes can't stop their shaking You can't stop my bleeding And I end where I begun.
Alice Here she is, lying on the floor She’s swallowed lots of pills, but this is the most It wasn’t enough, she had to take more Her mom never opened the door She’s at a hotel and addiction’s the host Here she is, lying on the floor She always said sobriety was such a bore But now she is dead, she’s only a ghost It wasn’t enough, she had to take more She’s known drugs since she was four Alcohol and pills, her mother loved the most Here she is, lying on the floor No one knew to open the door At this funeral there is no toast It wasn’t enough, she had to take more Now darling, is being sober such a bore? Is this enough milligrams to boast? Here she is, lying on the floor It wasn’t enough she had to take more.
Anna Black nails Black hair Long sleeves and long pants It’s 90 degrees, are you sick of hiding yet? There’s scars up your legs And cuts up your arms Your body’s a painting Of the life that you live Yours Is like no other And no one will know High schoolers judge Their souls are too cold Scared of what’s different Theres no need to be bold.
Five-Point Star This is more than religion On your lip or your chest The pride never rests This bond is for life No end to this strife Gold and purple to no end It’s time to represent The drugs and the guns Colors can get you killed It’s no longer fun But this is your family Dealing to kids Get beat in or sleep in Either way, there’s no leaving The Latin Kings.
Livid He’s coming home raging He knows knowledge is power She’s quikly aging This is her last hour His shotgun is gauging He found out she’s cheating Too late, she’s denying It’s time for a beating He knows she’s been lying His gun is fumbling She’s sober and fast As she’s grabbing it and running These breaths are his last Two shots to the head And her abuser is dead.
Tired She's running from her past How long will it last? She's tired from sprinting so fast It's catching up to her places and people that were, last summer, a part of her. They come to her in dreams Nightmeres as she wakes up and screams It's more complicated than it seems Erase the memories Locked doors and no keys It's time to pray, to get on my knees.
Time to Go Screaming and crying Pushing and shoving This love is too strong To be happy any more The drugs and the money Relapse and refills Lies and betrayal And selling the pills It’s time to run away The bruises and track marks are here to stay You tried to keep the beatings at bay With a gun to your head and a hand on your throat He leaves for work You leave through the window It’s far past time to go.
D.U.I. Two A.M. and we're going 109 in a 65 Sophie's shaking in the backseat And I'm glad to be alive I know tonight we won't take any heat So ignore the headlights in your eyes, into the black we dive I don't care I'm flying high For me, this isn't the first time There's no need to say goodbye This is a felony, not a crime I'm not scared What a rush Straight out of rehab but he's never cared The gardens in heaven must be so lush Alcohol is the worse Addiction is such a curse.
Phases Depressed And everyone’s impatient to treat Rehab can fix any phase and all the drugs Three months and medication Today she’s coming home Her first day of fresh air, And her last.
Free Nature, sweet wild We know not how to treat you Foreign and white This land is not ours Stolen and fought for A blood bath was shed Mothers and children Few Cherokee remain With nothing of their own Must we sing every morning, When this land is not free?
Brush strokes With every brush stroke It feels I have awoke Every curve and line This work is all mine In this subject I have no procrastination And no need for vacation I’ve got an amazing ability All these ideas and thoughts there is no stability Art is my love Makes me feel so high above
Five Poems on the Same Subject Subject: Hate
Red I can’t hold it in Emotions can’t be stifled This red fire burns on
Eternal I can hold a grudge And never budge I can be unforgiving A truss, I am not willing Emotion is capable of killing Apologies are nothing If you were dying I wouldn’t save your life Another reason to sharpen my knife I’m sick of all the lies I can’t look you in the eyes Eternal hate never dies.
