FC: By Ashleigh Mayo and Brandon Smith | Realism and Naturalism
1: Realism -A group of people could have been stranded together. - Sometimes the main character dies. - A group of people could have been kicked out of a town. | Summary A group of people who are not decent got kicked out of a town called Poker Flat. They must survive in the mountains near the town. | Naturalism - The cold weather affects the characters. -They are starving. - They are stranded in the mountains.
3: Realism -The speech mentions death several times in many different ways. -The speech mentions the death of children. -Instead of fighting to the last man and dying a "hero" Chief Joseph surrenders. | Summary The story was a speech by Chief Joseph of the Nez Perce. The speech stressed for peace and the Chief famously surrendered to the US military. | Naturalism - The Nez Perce struggle against nature. -They have no food to surrvive on. - They are battling a far superior force and face no chance of winning.
5: Realism -Four strangers encounter each other in a very propable situation. -The characters struggle to live. -Things in the story did not occur the way the reader would have anticipated. | Summary -Four strangers are shipwrecked and they survive in a small boat. A kinship forms between everyone as the four brave the harsh and uncaring sea. | Naturalism -The characters struggle against forces of nature such as animals, the wind, and the sea. -The author describes the imagery in detail.
7: Realism - The character is placed in an area in which he has no experience. -He is alone in an open world. -Events occur that are not pleasing to the man. -In the end the man dies. | Summary A man is alone save for his dog in the freezing bitter cold of the wilderness in Alaska. The man and the dog both strive to find and/or create heat. | Naturalism -The man struggles against the cold. -Like many natrualist stories the character is striving to achieve something in nature in this case a fire. -The man is accompanied by a dog.
8: I Shouldn't be Alive This shows real life situations that people encounter and almost die. It has realism and naturalism both.
9: I`m Alive I'm Alive features the death defying and moving stories of people who regardless of the obstacles or consequences were determined to survive an animal attack. This show has realism and naturalism because the stories portrayed can really happen and when an animal attacks it is just their nature.
10: I Survived I Survived allows survivors to explain, in their own words, how they overcame unbelievable circumstances. The realism in this show is that these stories are true. They really happened. The naturalism in this show is that nature throws them obstacles.
11: Man Vs Wild Man vs Wild is another example of naturalism. Man vs Wild explores the dangers and the caution needed to survive in the natural world.
