3: Family | Robert Browning- Worked as a bank clerk. He was also an artist scholar, antiquarian, and collector of books and pictures. Had a rare book collection of 6,000 volumes included works in Greek, Hebrew, Latin, French, Italian, and Spanish. | Sarah Anna Browning- Was an accomplished pianist, and a devoted Christian. | F A T H E R | M O T H E R
4: Education | Much of education came from his father. | Knew Latin, Greek, and French by age 14. | Believed to be proficient in reading and writing by the age of 5.
5: From age 14 to 16 he was educated at home by various tutors in music, drawing, dancing, and horsemanship. | At the age of 16, he attended the University College of London, but a year later dropped out to learn at his own pace.
6: Marriage | In 1845,he saw Elizabeth Barrett's poems and knew he had to meet her. | September 1846 | Eloped to Italy where they lived until she died in 1861.
