1: Scott Westerfeld was born May 5th,1963 in Dallas Texas. His family includes his mother, Pamela, father, Lloyd, and his two older sisters Wendy, and Jackie.

2: He Married writer, Justine Larbalesteir, in 2001. They split their time between their home in New York City and Sydney Australia.

3: Scott and Justine are bisummeral, which means moving between hemispheres to avoid winter. | Australia | New York

4: He went to Arts Magnet High School, In Dallas, Texas. Then soon graduated from New York University. Scott has been a substitute teacher, textbook editor, software designer, ghost writer and, a factory worker (making lead soldiers!).

5: Scott Westerfeld has written eighteen novels; five for adult, and thirteen for young adult.

6: The series of books Uglies, is his most famous series. He recently made a graphic novel from Shay's (character in the Uglies) point of view.. | Scott Westerfeld

7: Scott is working on three Uglies mangas, retelling the original trilogy. They also have begun working on an Uglies movie!

8: He has created many musical compositions, that have been preformed in dance productions in Europe and the United States.

9: Scott Westerfeld's most recent books, the Leviathan Trilogy won the 2010 Locus award, for best young adult fiction.

10: The Uglies trilogy has more than three million books in print, and has spent more than 50 weeks on the New York Time's best seller list.

11: Scott's book So Yesterday has been on the New York Times Bestseller list. Also, So Yesterday has been translated in Slovene.

12: Westerfeld has studied Japanese, Spanish, and Latin. He is only fluent in English.

13: Awards Scott Westerfeld has won: Book, Evolutions Daring was a New York Times notable book (2000) and won a special citation for the 2000 Philip K. Dick Award. So Yesterday won a Victorian Primiers Award. The Secret Hour won Aurealis Award. Peeps and Uglies were both named " best book for young adults" 2006 by the American Library Association..

14: Some books Scott Westerfeld has written are Uglies, Pretties, Specials, and Extras.

15: Uglies takes place three hundred years in the future, where until you turn sixteen you are known as an "ugly"."

16: Once an "ugly" turns sixteen, they have an operation turning them "pretty". After becoming a "pretty" the former "uglies" are strutting around with big eyes, full lips, perfect shape, and are super model beautiful.

17: In three months Talley will be "pretty" . While waiting for her birthday to come she meets another "ugly" Shay. Shay is someone who wants to keep her face and stay "ugly".

18: Before Shay turns sixteen, she runs away trying to keep her face. She leaves a note for Talley telling her where she is, in case she changes her mind. Talley is ordered by the government to find Shay and bring her back or else Talley will stay "ugly".
