1: Penn Station. When he was there it was empty, which made his loneliness worse.
2: Pencey Prep. He failed out but still had respect for some teachers.
5: The left handers glove. His younger brothers glove. He died at the age of 11 when Holden was 13. Hes the only one Holden talks nicely about.
7: Red hunters hat. Holden wears it backwards and no one knows why. He wears it because he doesn't want to be like everyone else.
9: Hypocrisy. He thinks every adult are hypocrites and phonies.
10: Central Park. He goes to the park just to see the ducks.
11: Ducks. Hes obsessed with the ducks, he always wants to know where they go. He can connect with them because they don't stay in one place.
12: The Edmont Hotel. He stayed at this hotel, and grew up some more because he didn't take advantage of Sunny.
15: Fish. He gets in an argument with the cab driver about how the fish are different from the ducks.
16: Digressions. He always changes his mind and never stays on one topic.
19: Ernie's Bar. He met his brothers ex girlfriend with another man.
21: Money. Holden has a lot of money and doesn't care what he spends it on.
22: Taxi. he gets in the argument about the fish and ducks with Horwitz.
24: Painfulness of growing up. He doesn't want to grow up and hes trying to stop all other kids from growing up.
27: Radio City Music Hall. He goes to remember Allie and how he likes pit orchestra.
29: Carousel. Being around the carousel makes him feel younger, and he likes listening to the songs.
30: Alienation. He makes himself different from everyone else.
33: Rebelliousness. He failed many schools and didn't tell his parents about Pencey Prep.
34: Museum of Natural History. He was looking for Phoebe but she was a school field trip at the museum.
36: The Gold Ring. It represents the one and only time he was happy and normal.
39: Lying. He thinks that all adults are lying to him.
40: Allies death. He always talks about it and blames himself for it.
43: Phoniness of the adult world. He believes that every adult is a phony and doesn't want kids to grow up.
