8: I hope no one hates me for this. I thought it was quite sweet. | How Larkfield Juniors all started. (spin off from LBFC) The "Neighbour Magazine Dec 1989" write up: "IT WAS almost worthy of the Soccer Book of Records. For when Larkfield Juniors B Team took the field one Sunday last month, their own team manager acted as goalkeeper for the opposing side — and also refereed the match from his goal area. How did Roy Prigg come to play this unique, three-in-one role in football? Well, the game was a somewhat unusual friendly, with the Larkfield lads challenging their Dads to a charity game on the East Malling recreation grounds. All players chipped in £1 each for the privilege of appearing. The money, together with outside sponsorship, was later sent to Children in Need — £50 in total. It was a particularly praiseworthy effort for the boys to have challenged a senior team. This is their first seasonin the Maidstone Junior League and up the day of the charity game they hadn't won a match. At one stage the league table was dismally recording 47-4 goals against them! But the Dads proved no match, being beaten 9-7 by the sons in a game of much excitement and some shirt-pulling. Observant spectators believe that shouts from the Mums on the sidelines night have affected the result. Cries of “Foul”, “Offside” and “Send him off’ greeted most of the Dads’ attacks and goals. It was a game with a difference. " Those were the days eh lads.........
