FC: Surgery Miracle | Cassie Rojas English 1 Period: 2
Prologue "BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEEEEEEP". As Angel's mother stands in the dark, cold waiting room gaping into the window at her dying daughter, she realizes all the pain and suffering Angel had gone through. Angel's mother, Sunny, questions herself; how could she allow her fiance to beat Angel, her one and only loving child? Young Angel was battling with cancer. As the years passed the cancer augmented rapidly, no control over what would happen the next day, Angel lived her life to the fullest.
"Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord my soul to keep, Angels watch me through the night til I wake to morning light"
"Angel, after three days of tedious evalutions we have sadly confirmed you do indeed have cancer", this was the beginning of her new life. She began to weep, her mother cradled her little girl in her warm, open arms.
She tried to assure Angel that life would go on, that nothing else in this world could hurt her. Angel shuffled her way to her mom's car and slowly opened the door. Everything was silent, not one word was uttered from anyone, for thirty minutes.
They arrived home, walked to the front door, and went into an empty house. Angel quickly ran up to her room and slammed the door behind her. Sunny's fiance, Micheal, pulled into the drive way from a hard
days work. When Micheal got home he went straight upstairs to Angel's room to find out what the doctor's final verdict was. Angel took a deep breath then proceeded to tell him that she has cancer.
She was shocked at Micheal's reaction. Micheal began to turn red, he picked up a book, and threw it at Angel. He began screaming awful words and blamed Angel for her health issues. Meanwhile, Sunny was outside leaving
to go to the grocery store and pick up her baby girl's favorite food and fix it for dinner. Micheal was left to watch Angel. As Angel tried vigoursly to escape from his tight grasping palms, he tightened and firmed his grip.
With each attempt getting stronger, he decided to throw her upon the bed. Angel caught him with his back turned and jolted downstairs to find that her mother had left. Micheal followed behind her, grabbed Angel, and apologized for the pain he had inflicted on her. She
was too afraid to tell her mother what happened, so she assured Micheal she would keep it a secret. Sunny arrived home and began to cook dinner for the family, when she was finished they sat down and ate. Nobody knew if this would be Angel's last
dinner with them, tonight was intended to be a remarkable evening. Angel barely ate a bite of her food, cleaned up her plate, and made her way to the bathroom. With every step she took she could her the screams of her attempt to escape. She
opened the bathroom door and slowly closed it behind her. There she stood glaring at herself in the mirror. Angel looked at the bruises that covered her body, what would become of her "new" life?
Five years had passed since Angel was diagnosed with cancer. In two days she was to return to the hospital and have surgery to attempt to remove the cancer. Angel sits in her bed as she begins to dose off
into a deep slumber. With the blink of an eye two days had passed. Sunny went upstairs and gently picked her daughter up and carried her into the car. They got to the hospital and directly went to the operation room.
As she lay there ready for the surgery, the doctor begins to work. With one incision he had cut his way to her lung, as he began to remove the cancer, Angel's vital signs rapidly decreased.
The clock struck nine at night, two hours after she had been pronounced dead. Families, friends, and hospital staff were all grieving from this terrible loss. Dr. Wilson began to clean up the operation when a bright
light beamed through the room, within a moment Angel was revived. A miracle took place that day in the operating room. Angel awoke and began to tell her mom of the wonders that Jesus Christ had granted.
Angel and her mother grew closer from that day on. Sunny protected her little girl with every moment lived. As for Micheal he is long gone, "out of sight, out of mind." Life is one present you can never think of as meaningless.
 Literary terms
I used mood to set the emotions of the story. The little girl experiences pain and suffering in her life. That is meant for you to feel depressed or sympathetic. The mother's fiance beats the little girl and she hides her scars from the world. She feels seperate, not like anyone else, and is afraid to tell her mother. As you start to feel the emotional feeling from the story an enlightened moment of reassurance is present. The little girl is revived by the grace of God. This makes you feel a time of happiness.
I used third person omniscient for the point of view. This allows the reader to see all points from the characters. Third person omniscient lets you see inside someone's head, and see what they feel, and what they are thinking. I thought this point of view would help me embrace the purpose of the story. The point of view I used also allowed me to express the emotions that were meant to be portrayed by events happening.
