It's funny. All you have to do is say something nobody understands and they'll do practically anything you want them to. | The best thing, though, in that museum was that everything always stayed right where it was. Nobody’d move. . . . Nobody’d be different. The only thing that would be different would be you. | Game, my ass. Some game. If you get on the side where all the hot-shots are, then it’s a game, all right—I’ll admit that. But if you get on the other side, where there aren’t any hot-shots, then what’s a game about it? Nothing. No game. | I'm the most terrific liar you ever saw in your life. It's awful. If I'm on my way to the store to buy a magazine, even, and somebody asks me where I'm going, I'm liable to say I'm going to the opera. It's terrible.

My red hunting hat that I got one day in the city. I love this hat, its kinda embarrassing but my favorite hat to wear. I ended up giving it to my sister Phoebe though. pg. 22

This is a note I wrote Mr. Specer at the end of an essay I wrote on Egyptians. I flunked Mr. Specers history class, even though he felt lousy about it. Me and Mr. Spencer were pretty close. He was the only teacher I said goodbye to when I left Pency Prep. pg. 12 | Dear Mr. Spencer, That is all i know about the Egyptians. I cant seem to get very interested in them although your lectures are vey interesting. it is all right with me if you flunk me though as i am flunking everything else except english anyway. Respectfully yours, Holden Caufield.

When I was younger, me and Jane spent a lot of time together. We were neighbors, and she's very attractive and the least phony person I know! We did a lot things together, I especially remember playing checkers. pg. 78

These are ice skates. Me and Sally went ice skating after we saw a movie. She looked cute with her little skirt on. But me and Sally argued when she called me ridiculous and I called her a pain in the ass. We haven't really talked since then. pg. 130

 Phoebe

I bought my sister Phoebe a record called "Little Shirley Beans". It was a record for kids, that I knew would just knock Phobe out. But then it fell out my pocket and shattered into pieces. I still have a piece of the record. pg. 114 | The photo is of Pheobe riding a carousel. We went to Central Park one day when when we were real mad at each other. We went to the zoo, and then to the carousel. I watched her ride a little. After that I wasn't so mad anymore, I was actually happy. pg. 212

This train ticket was from a specific train ride I took when I left Pencey Prep, and I went to the city. I met Mrs. Monroe on this ride. She had great charm and was very good-looking. But I kept lying to her about everything. I just didn't want to explain my whole life to her. pg. 54

I wondered about the ducks in lagoon in Central Park, and where they went during the winter. I asked people if they knew, but no one would tell me where they went. This is a pebble I got from the logoon where the ducks live in Central Park. pg. 13

Pencey Prep is the last school I attended. I flunked out. It was full of phonies and fakes. I didnt have too many real friends there. pg. 2

This is probably the most important item to me. Its my younger brother, Allie's baseball mitt. Allie died when I was younger and I keep his mitt around to remember him. pg. 38
