BC: The End

FC: The Cold War | By Ben Stugelmayer

1: The Cold War was a war between the U.S. and the Soviet Union. The U.S. and the Soviets were trying to make all of Europe either communist or capitalist governments. | Introduction to Cold War | The U.S. Flag (top) The Soviet Union Flag (bottom)

2: The Marshall plan provided $13 billion to rebuild war torn Europe. The Soviets saw the Marshall plan as an attempt to buy the support of other countries. | The Truman doctrine was similar to the Marshall plan. It gave money to countries threatened by communist expansion. This plan would effect all of Eastern Europe. | Countries in Europe that were effected by the Marshal plan.

7: Arms Race | The Arms race was a competition between the U.S. and the Soviet Union. Both sides competed to become the superior country. Both sides developed more powerful nuclear weapons, but never used any against the other side. In fact their weapons could literally blow up the earth thousands of times over and over again. | In October 1957 the Soviet Union developed Sputnik I. When it was launched into space it could be seen in the sky reflecting light and could be heard making a beeping noise. The U.S. saw Sputnik and started working on Sputnik II.

9: Location of the Bay of Pigs Invasion

10: Rivalry in Cartoons | The cartoon Roadrunner has some similarities to the cold war. For example Coyote is always finding new inventions to try and catch Roadrunner and Roadrunner is always finding new ways to outsmart Coyote. Although this cartoon isn't exactly like the cold war. In the cold war the U.S. and the Soviets never used any of their weapons on each other. They just had them ready in case the other side used one of their nuclear weapons first.
