BC: Or, will it happen again, with the current economic state in the present? Time will tell.

FC: The Great Depression; How, Where, Why, and When.

1: Families lost their homes, food, money, all because of the initial failures of the economy , which instilled fear and panic into the people, causing them to take more and more loans, putting stress on banks. Others took the panic and withdrew their money from the banks, effectively weakening them. | The Great Depression was caused by prices soaring which also made business cost increase. They were having a very difficult task of making a profit and staying competitive against other businesses. Look around in the photos, people starving, people losing their homes... I guess too much greed leads to destruction.

2: The anger and frustration of the Great Depression took a toll indeed. Families were corrupted, killing for food, slaughtering every last bit of edible material to fill their stomachs just to survive the cold, dark nights and painstaking days. It lasted 12 years, from 1929 to 1941. But despite all of this, families stayed together. Sure, they no longer had a roof and four walls... but they were never, in fact, homeless.

3: Life in the Great Depression was frightening, every corner of the World in panic and distraught. Education was scarce like the hope of a recovery, food was rare in the sense of being worth as much as gold, and sanitary conditions were horrid. Dust storms ravaged many people, and even a person was standing in the middle of one, as if all that he has earned and worked hard for, has been carried away into nothingness and hopelessness.

4: The Great Depression affected every one, ranging from the poorest family to the richest and most well-known people in the World. Farmers tried to sell their farms, because they could not be maintained due to the lack of income. How did the World survive without farming, which creates a lack of food? Desperation led to aggravation, and fascination led to exploitation, searching everywhere at every corner just to try to find a way to survive, and live in peace.

5: And so, I would like to close this book with one of the most iconic photographs in Great Depression times; "Migrant Mother", photographed by "Dorothea Lange". I end this book with this single, solitary photograph. The Great Depression ended when the United States started to spend money on World War II, more killing and hatred, just spread out over a wider area. This photo is where it all began, and here, is where it ends.
