FC: By Julia Weimer

There were 4 main things that caused the great depression. | 1. Stock Market Crash of 1929 Many believe that this stock market crash was the main cause that lead to the Great Depression. | 2. Bank Failures During the 1930 's over 9,000 banks failed. Banks that were unsure about their survival and how the economy was going to be they stopped being willing to create new loans. | 3. Reduction in Purchasing Across the Board With the way that things were looking, people started to stop buying items. Due to this, it lead to the reduction of items produced and a reduction in the workforce. | 4. American Economic Policy with Europe In 1930 the government created the American Economic Policy with Europe. This was to help protect American companies. Since it created a high tax for imports, that lead to less trade between America and other countries.

The Great Depression lasted from 1930 to 1941. It lasted for about 11 long years. The time period of the depression depended on the different people of any particular nation.

Rural | The life for people who lived in rural areas had it hard during the Great Depression. Crop prices were low, farmers got very little (if anything at all) for their efforts. Most of the people couldn't afford to pay for their land or homes and most of them lost their places. | Urban | People who lost their homes has to live in small crowded, unhealthy areas. Farmers who got kicked out of their land had to pack up their families and belongings and move into the cities. Mainly everyone who lived outside of the cities who had lost their property had moved into the city area. On top of all the people who already lived in the city, imagine all the people that were crammed. Eventually many of the cities ran out of money and were forced to pay city employers in script.

The great depression affected everyone differently and not in the exact same way. It affected many people from all over the world except it didn't strongly affect Japan. It was still a tragic thing. The way Americans were affected was that in the 1930's the rate of unemployment fell by at least 25%. Many families broke up, parents were struggling with money and food. In that was it strongly affected children all over the world as well.

The end of the Great Depression.

By entering into the WW2, that helped get out of an economic depression. ONly because it takes the men out of their working and into the military. By this happening it causes the rest of the U.S to enter into a job market to make a comeback.
