Education | I attended Gasden State Community college. | I chose this college because it's a two year college and it's close to home. | It is located in Oxford, Alabama. | I majored in cosmetology. | I am now looking for a job as a cosmetologist. | I chose this profession because I like hair and makeup, etc.

Profession | Some of the key responsibilities of this job include beauty consultations and administrating specific services such as hair care, facial and scalp treatments, nail care, and makeup analysis. | The annual salary of this job is $26,460. In the bottom ten percent the annual salary is $16,710 and if you are in the top ten percent the annual salary is $41,490. The more experience you have the more income you will have. | My ultimate goal in this profession is to work with runway models or on movie sets.

City Overview | Now that I've graduated I plan to move to Panama City, Florida. | I chose to move to this city because I love the beach and the city. | This city is located on the panhandle of northwest Florida on St. Andrews Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. | The overall population of this city is 36, 484. | It is close to Destin, Florida; Lynn Haven, Florida; and Springfield, Florida. | The most popular forms of entertainment in Panama are Pier Park, Panama City Beach, and Shipwreck Island Water Park. | Most people in city work in the medical, food service, and entertainment industry. | Crime in this city is average.

 Standard Living

I am going to live at The Reserve at Northshore Apartments 2012 West Hwy. 390, Lynn Haven, Fl 3244. | The rent for this apartment is from $715 to $725 a month. | In order to move in, I will need to pay a $715 deposit fee. | Some features of this apartment are on-site maintenance, garages, fitness center, playground, storage units, spa, pool, etc. | Other bills that I will need to pay each month will include a Netlfix subscription for $7.99 a month, internet service for $29.95 a month, and my cell phone plan for $140 a month.

The apartment that I chose came equipped with a refrigerator and a stove. | I had to purchase a washer and dryer and the rest of my furniture. | With the assistance of my graduation present, I was able to buy all my furniture without having to pull from my monthly budget. | This amount gave me an additional $686.32 to add to my monthly budget. | The majority of these funds were spent on living room furniture and kitchen furniture. | Some of my priorities in furnishing my apartment was purchasing a dryer, kitchen items, and living room furniture. | Some things I had to do without were a desk. | Household Items

Transportation | At this point in the project I could not afford a car. | Instead of a car, I chose the Bay Town Trolley as my form of transportation. | Taking the trolley will only cost $1. Since I will be using the trolley regularly, I can purchase a monthly pass for only $15. | I am fine with this form of transportation until I can afford to purchase my own car.

My total grocery bill for this month was $382. | I purchases items in the following categories: beverages, breakfast, lunch, condiments, snacks, dinner, and household. | A majority of my funds were spent in the household category because I had to buy soaps, detergents, paper towels, toiletries, etc. | I believe this list will be sufficient in feeding myself for a month because I know how to stretch things to make them last. | In drafting my grocery list I learned that groceries are not cheap and add up fast. | Grocery List

After paying all of my monthly bills, I have $760.17 to spend on entertainment and miscellaneous items. | I have chosen to set aside $50 for saving in case something important comes up, $100 for home maintenance in case something breaks, $25 in fast food in case I don't feel like cooking, $6o in entertainment if I decide to go out, and $80 for clothing and shoes if I want to go shopping. | After making allocations for this section, my final budget total is $445.17. | Entertainment & Miscellaneous Items

Budget Reflection | When I began budgeting my money I spent the most in the home category because of the furniture I bought and how expensive my rent is. I spent the least in transportation because I will be taking the trolley. I did not incur any unexpected expenses. I had $686.32 from my graduation gift and I have $445.17 left over in my monthly budget now. Even without the extra money in the coming months I will still be able to budget my money the same and was able to put money into savings and have money for emergencies. I didn't expect to be using public transportation but after I put money into my home and groceries I was not able to afford a car. This project and "Roadmap To Success" has helped me prepare for the future by teaching me how to budget money and where my money will be going.
