BC: By: Casie Isovitsch

The US got involved because Japan bombed Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. That made it personal for the US and many people to enter the war to get back at Japan. And we see that is what happened.

The U.S entered WWII on December 7th 1941, the same day Japan bombed Pearl Harbor. September 2nd 1945 was the day that marked the end of probably the greatest war in human history.

After WWI the world thought up of way to make Germany pay for the damage it caused. They did this by making Germany pay a huge fine and did not let Germany to build up a big army or navy. Angry, Germany secretly DID build up its army and navy under Adolf Hitler's Control. Then Germany started to take back the land that had been took away from them in WWI.

There was two fighting sides of the war, the Axis powers and the Allies. THe counties in the Axis powers were: Germany, Japan, Italy, Romania, Hungry, Finland, Slovakia, Bulgaria and Croatia. The Allies were: Great Brittan, France, The USSR, U.S.A, Australia, Canada, Belgium, Greece, Netherlands, Yugoslavia, Norway, Luxembourg,Czechoslovakia, Poland and China. The only countries that remained neutral in the war were: Argentina, Ireland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, Switzerland and Vatican City. Although these countries did still feel the effects of the war.

There were many different weapons used in WWII. A range of different riffles such as the sniper or the semi-automatic were used. Sub Machine guns were small and fast which made them ideal for short-range combat. Hand Grenades proved to be effective in surprise combat. Tanks were also widely used in the war. Even though they were not used as much as other weapons, Pistols were carried by soldiers who were not fighting per say but had them just in case.

Rosie the Riveter was a fictional woman that the media used to encourage women to fill in for men during the war. Before the war women were thought to be weak and useless but now that the country needed some to fill in for the men that were fighting. This 'woman' can contribute to the liberation of women in the future.

During the great Depression it seemed there was not enough jobs to go around. But now that there was a war going on, there were more jobs for the people still at home. Also you need to get food, supplies and weapons for the men at war some how. The need for these things created jobs. Soon enough many people had a job again and the Great Depression was a thing of the past.
