BC: of 2011

Siblings are the people we practice on, the people who teach us about fairness and cooperation and kindness and caring--quite often the hard way. -Pamela Dugdale

It's the little things that make life beautiful. | We played a silly game with all of our winter gear. We had one minute to get as many items on our body as possible!

Grandma Magurean sent the watermelon and flower outfits. The green ruffle shirts are from Target and I couldn't pass them up!

Most of the kids clothes are from consignment or garage sales, but every once in a while they have matching clothes. Kaylee loves to help Grace get dressed so they look the same. And I gotta admit, it's super cute (and makes the mornings go smoother!) | Sisters

 Silly Daddy | Crazy Daddy

Uncle Phil and Lina | Aunt Donna

"The more you laugh the longer you live" | Dinner Menu Lasagna Salad Bread Apple Pie Ice cream Laughter | O'Briens, Nutts, Tragers, and Tanya

Good times are even better when shared with.... | Brunch at the Nutt's house! We had fruit, bacon, juices, and egg muffins. A feast for the morning! The spring weather was just right for a walk down the street and coloring with chalk on the driveway.

"Friends are Flowers that Never Fade"

The girls wore these beautiful dresses to Aunt Sara's wedding last year. I let them wear the "wedding dresses" one more time to the Easter service at dad's church. They were so excited to wear the dresses and everyone at church complimented the matching outfits.

Joshua is transitioning into taking showers instead of baths this year. (But baths are way more fun)

When the weather is nice, we spend as much time as we can outside. One of the best parts of summer is grabbing a blanket, a book and some snacks. Quiet time on blankets in the shade was a big hit.The soft green grass, cool breeze and an enclosed fence are really nice touches. We also eat outside for most meals, do crafts and fold laundry outside!

The kids love to have bonfires in the back yard! I think Joshua would eat 5 s'mores if I let him! He likes for the marshmallows to catch on fire - it is kinda exciting. We have to be very very careful with Grace, since she doesn't understand that fire is hot and dangerous.

The ribbons of your love are woven around my heart

First (official) Haircut | Kaylee gave herself a couple of haircuts...right at the scalp. We were able to hide it for a long time with creative hairstyling. I took her to Pharaohs Hairum for her first legit cut. They shampooed her hair, trimmed and layered it, and then styled it with curls. She pulled this outfit from the dress up box. My mom made it for me to wear as a flower girl in a wedding when I was 5. It can really twirl!

Happy Birthday to You | Hooray For Birthdays

The girls made pony "houses" for the craft | Tiny, the Cornwells pony, came to visit at the My Little Pony party! Kaylee and our guests were so surprised! Tiny gave everyone a ride around the yard and let everyone pet her mane.

I love when my craft projects provide simultaneous kid entertainment! They used extra foam cushions from my window seat project as pillows.

Aunt Sara and Uncle Rob (or Dr. Rob) | Julia and Joshua | Summer picnic at Grandpa's church

Sometimes the laughter in mothering is the recognition of the ironies and absurdities. Sometimes, though, it's just pure, unthinking delight.

A girls first true love is her father.

First grade at Fyle Elementary School in Mrs. Yuskwi'/ Reeves class. | Victory Sonshine Pre-school, 4 yr old

We changed out the decorations in Joshua's room. Good bye Thomas the Train! Now he has a double bed with Star Wars sheets, a comfy green reading chair and a funky painting from an estate sale. I made the long wooden book shelfs to hold the books he plows through. | Joshua's Room

 Mendon Ponds | September 11th, 2011 | We remember...and are thankful

THE CLUBHOUSE | The kids love to go to the clubhouse for go-cart rides and mini golf. This was the first year Joshua could ride by himself, so the whole family could be on the race track at the same time!

Kaylee spent over an hour building a home for the fairies who live at Grammy's new house. She made umbrellas out of mushrooms, pillows and blankets out of leaves, a table out of bark. Every time we visit, she runs out back to check on the fairy house and see what they have been up to. | Fairy Houses

 Just hanging around the house

 "Belly-rider" pajamas

 Happy 6th Birthday

Lots of friends and family came to our "Angry Birds" party. Aunt Sara made the awesome cupcakes. Tanya and I made the balloon faces, I made life sized game pieces out of boxes and we shot stuffed animals with a balloon sling shot! (Clintons, Cornwells, Nutts, O'Brien's, Grammy, Pfeiffers, Rodiboughs, Puths, Hagens)

 Whittier Fruit Farm

 A Strawberry Shortcake Party! | 2 | 2 | nd

 Screwy Pumpkin Heads!

Preschool Thanksgiving Play | Kaylee, Jack, Grace, Addie

Trick or Treat! | A ladybug and her Jedi master | A blue "model" and her guy | Hands up!

Mr. and Mrs. Fox (plus a dirty clown) joined our rag-tag family for trick or treating. The weather was so nice that we walked around the circle of our neighborhood. Grace was determined to walk on her own and to carry her own candy bucket. It spilled a couple of times.... When we came back home, Mrs. Fox read a chapter out of her book, accepting candy for payment. We are grateful to have a friendly and safe neighborhood for this type of holiday!

We found a new place to hike close by that had beautiful scenery and trails. | Thanksgiving at Grammy and Papa's

As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them. ~John Fitzgerald Kennedy | As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them. ~John Fitzgerald Kennedy | This was mom's first time hosting a holiday in her new home. She invited us, Aunt Cathy and Rich and some friends to gather for a delicious meal.

We went to Grandma and Grandpa's house for Christmas Eve dinner before going to a Christmas Eve service at Hope Lutheran church at 7:30pm.

Holiday Memories Warm Even The Coldest Of Days | A Season of Love and Laughter | Family Is The Best Part Of | Christmas morning, we got up at 6am, closely followed by all the kids. Grandma and Papa John came to visit for just the day with Milo. Tanya, O'Briens and Nutts also stopped over to visit.

Kaylee got the role of "Mary, mother of Jesus" in her preschool Christmas play. She told people she was going to be "married."

We drove to Indiana on December 26th to see Grandma and Grandpa Magurean. Darrin and the kids came up too. The cousins had a blast playing the Wii and flat out enjoying the company of people their own age. Later that week, we drove to visit Lizzy and her family. The gym at her house is awesome! This year they had skating ramps and a huge trampoline in there. We spent some time drawing, which Caiden is very good at. Liz and I went out shopping at the Goodwill store, then out for coffee. We drove back to Indiana for New Year's Eve. I went out for Chinese dinner with Mom and John while Brian and the kids had chicken nuggets at home! Maybe someday one of them will like it. All of a sudden, a week had passed and we were headed back home to work, school, laundry and this wonderful life.
