5: After waiting 41 and a weeks for you to arrive, the big day finally came for me to get induced. We packed up our bags, took Francie to grandma’s, and made our way to the hospital. Dad and I were very nervous. I had been having irregular contractions for a month! We got settled in to our big room at 7 AM. The nurse hooked me up to the monitor so we could watch the contractions come and listen to your heartbeat. Grandma Denise came to sit with us after that. At 9 AM the nurse started the Pitocin to induce the labor. The contractions were getting stronger and coming very frequently, but I still didn’t feel any pain, just uncomfortable. At 3 PM Dr. Christen came in and broke my water. After that happened the pain of the contractions got INTENSE! I could only hold out for one hour until I had to have Dr. Green give me an epidural. It sure did the trick. The pain went right away. Then I took a nap. After that all the family came to visit. Grandma Kris and Grandpa Wayne, Uncle Orin, Aunt Rayann, Raylynn, Kristina, Nicholas, Aunt Jessica, Uncle Danny, Ella, Aunt Deann, Uncle Nate were all there waiting for you! Grandpa Dennis was very sad he couldn’t be there, he was stuck in Georgia working. They stayed for quite a while. Then all of the sudden your heartbeat started to get a little too low, so the nurse put an oxygen mask on me and put fluids back into the uterus to make things a little easier on you, and it worked! I was so tired that I took another nap. My temperature went up to 101 degrees and I couldn’t stop shaking, but I was okay. Then at about 1:00 AM Dr. Christen came back in and had me start to push. It was hard work! Daddy was right there waiting for you, Grandma Denise was video taping and helping me and Grandma Kris was giving me ice. Then at 2:39 you were born! You came out with the cord wrapped around you a little too tight and you were blue and not breathing. Dr. Christen hurried up and cut the cord and handed you to our very good friend the nurse, Wendy Gurney, and her and a few other people started to try to get you to breathe. They gave you oxygen and rubbed you for a couple of minutes. We were all anxiously waiting for you to cry. Then Daddy said “His eyes are opening!” Then just after that you started to cry. We were all so happy. The nurses laid you on my chest and I got to meet you for the very first time. You cried and cried, but then you calmed down after I talked to you for a while. The doctor said you were a strong , healthy boy and we got to go home the next day!
