FC: Baby Weller Good Wishes Quilt
In Northern China, the birth of a child is celebrated with a colorful Bai Jia Bei or 100 Good Wishes Quilt. Originally, the tradition involved cloth contributed by a newborn's family and friends. The quilt is said to contain the good energy, good fortune, and good wishes of the gift givers. Inspired by this tradition, we are making a Good Wishes Quilt for you Baby Weller.
Baby Girl Weller, I met your mommy Sara in high school and spent many special times laughing and singing together. Your mommy and daddy are such good friends and are dear to my heart. You are a gift to their wonderful life and we can not wait to spend time with you. Enjoy your quilt and the special memories each fabric hold. Lots of Love, Liz, Tom, Maddy, Tommy and Patrick
Your Mom and Dad are such amazing people. I know they will be wonderful parents to you and will always show you a life filled with lots of love and laughter. We are so excited to meet you! Love - Chris, Tara, Colin & Ethan
Dearest Grand Daughter We don't know your name but we love you just the same. We can't wait to hold you and teach you our names. We are Mimi and Papa and we gave you your Mama. God Bless you and keep you in love forever. Mimi and Papa took your Mama to see her first movie, called Bambi, when she was just 3. The quilt piece with Bambi, Thumper, and Flower was a precious memory of fun with your Mother
This is Papa and your mother on a vacation to Texas. Your Mom's first trip to the ocean. | This is your Mommy and your Mimi letting the waves hit our feet. 9: Sara and John - We have been waiting for this such a long time. We are so excited for you guys, and offer our sincerest Congratulations on the upcoming arrival of this baby girl! I picked the "Love" square, because you and your family are such a loving family. It was so touching how you always welcomed Tara into your family and shared that love with her. And we know your baby will be loved the very same way! Congratulations Again! Jim and Sandi
Congratulations Sara and John! Your daughter is lucky to have such amazing parents! | Soon you will be holding your 'Tiny Kappa' too! We love you - Ashley, Matt, Jack, & Taylor
"Here we have a baby. It is composed of a bald head and a pair of lungs." - Eugene Field | Catherine H.
Dear Sara and John, I found a copy of your engagement announcement while I was going through my Dad's things. I thought sending you this copy would be a fitting reminder to your baby girl as to "where it all began." I am so happy for you both and so excited you are about to be parents. Sara, I can't think of another friend who will be a better mom. Yours was such a great example for me growing up and I know you learned about LOVE from both of your parents. I can't wait until your daughter will be old enough to showcase all of her musical talents. With two parents like you, she will be extremely gifted I'm sure. God bless you both in the coming months as you prepare to welcome her. We will miss you at the wedding but we are thrilled for your new chapter that awaits. Love, Ali & Ryan
 Aunt Carolyn and Uncle Bill
"Always kiss your children goodnight - even if they're already asleep." - H. Jackson Brown, Jr. | Best Wishes Sara and John! I think you two are going to be wonderful parents. With the two of your singing voices, this kid's going to be spoiled with beautiful lullabies! Love, Lauren V.
Take offers of babysitting Make the mundane tasks into celebrated events Empty boxes are play pens Dirt and grass stains are good for the soul Always kiss goodnight & say " I Love You" Take time for yourselves With all our love, Carrie, Shannon, & Madeline
Dear Sara, John, and the lovely little Weller You're going to laugh but, about a week before I received the fabric request letter from Liz & Tara I had cleaned out my fabric collection. Bags and bags of the best of the best "acquired" over the years from both the resource library as well as the PDC were no longer in my possessions. Yes, send in the clowns... But, as luck would have it, there's a fabric store located a mere hop, skip & a jump from our front door. And, while Thomas slept peacefully in his car seat, I ooh'd & ahh'd and fondled many a bolt. Eventually I decided on a lovely apple green crewel & accompanying floral print that I thought you would love for your soon-to-be bundle of joy. It was hard not to pick a dozen more... Sara, you know what that's like. On to the joys of parenthood and a little advice: (Don't make me advise...don't make me advise...) You two are going to be amazing parents to this little girl. You have so many gifts to give her; your kindness, thoughtfulness, smarts, enthusiasm, creativity, humor & most importantly love. Don't let the sleepless nights & poopy diapers get you down! The joys far outweigh the stinkies... So when the (bleep) hits the fan, just take a deep breath and remember it will pass. If you're ever in need, don't hesitate to reach out to your friends & family. We're here for you. We'll see you through any tough time if need be. And a little glass of Chardonnay never hurt nobody. (Personally, I love a good Scotch, and my friend Baxter.) Here's to a beautiful new adventure. Much love - Catherine, David, Thomas & Baxter xo
To The Weller Family Congratulations on your little one! She is lucky to have parents like you! Enjoy every minute... Love, The Sauser Family

John & Sara, Enjoy every minute and every stage of your child's life - even the times that are frustrating, sleepless and worrisome as the time with them seems to fly by and before you know it, they are having children of their own. Your little one will bring you much love and happiness and love you unconditionally. Congratulations! Lyn & Al
Dear Sara, John, and Baby Weller: Who knew when I met Sara in 1996, 15 years ago, that the day would come when I got to send her soon to be little girl a message. I want to let the newest addition to the Weller family know how lucky they are to have the funniest, kindest, and most creative parents. I cherish all the time I have spent with Sara and John and it is always filled with laughter and good memories. I know this family will continue to keep laughing and creating more memories together. Welcome to the world Baby Weller! Love, Susan
Sara's Birthday in Santa Barbara Wine Country February 2004
Dear John, Sara, & Baby Girl Weller - Although we understand that the Elephant Tapestry may never grace the walls of baby's room, we thought this cartoonish one would make a perfect addition to the quilt! Feel free to decorate the nursery with palm fronds...it's classy! Chad & Lisa
John and Sara - I'm so happy for you! I know you both will be great parents that will teach her love, compassion, loyalty, how to sing karaoke, how to find the best dive bar in the neighborhood, and how to pick a good wine! All of the souls are lining up in heaven hoping to get picked to be Baby Girl Weller! Sharon
Dear John and Sara - I came across this quote the other day and I thought of the two of you and your precious little girl. "" | Best wishes and Congratulations- Allyson and Nathan | "Every child comes with the message that God is not yet discouraged of man." - Rabindranath Tagore
Great fun, Great food, Great friends Lots of laughs and presents ...and now there are three

Congratulations All the Best! Pam S.
The Joys to Come As you await baby Weller's summer debut, Here's a hint of what joys be in store for you. Each day will be filled with sweet baby "things" Like cuddly stuffed toys and soft teething rings. They'll be oodles and oodles of snuggles and cuddles, Mud pies, and of course occasional mud puddles. Tiny toes that wiggle, cute tummies that jiggle. Delightful squeals and toothless giggles. Look forward to sleepy eyed bedtime readings, But be prepared for bleary-eyed 2am feedings. Nothing tops belly laughs and teddy bear hugs, Or jars filled with delightful lightening bugs! They'll be "leaks" of the sort your plumber can't fix. Birthday parties with clowns who do magic tricks. Sticky hands are not rare, nor is bubble gum hair. Blankies and pacifiers are everywhere! So whether it's snips and snails, or sugar and spice, Your world'll be topsy-turvy and won't that be nice? Kathy M.
