FC: Lee & Sharon

Hello! We are honored that you are considering us as adoptive parents for your child. We'd like to introduce ourselves to you; we are Lee and Sharon. We live with a five year old Jack Russell named Charlie. The difficulty of the decision you are making is something we can only imagine. We truly admire, appreciate, and respect you. Lee was adopted as an infant, and he is so thankful to his mother for what she did for him. Your consideration of adoption shows your love for your child and your courage as an individual. We pray that getting to know us may grant you some peace and comfort as you plan for your son or daughter’s future. | Our Trip to Greece and Rome 2008 | Charlie Charlie

Our Life So Far We met several years ago and dated for two years before we married. We are a loving, stable couple and have based our relationship on Christian principles and scripture. We enjoy traveling, spending time with our family and friends, singing in a church worship group, yard sale and estate sale shopping, and reading, Lee loves tinkering with cars. Lee also enjoys bicycling, while Sharon loves water aerobics. | Our Wedding Day! Our Wedding Day! | Segways in DC 2008

Our Faith We are Christians and will raise our child with those beliefs and values. Strong self-esteem, compassion for others, character, and a strong faith will be part of our child’s life. We are members of a fantastic church that is encouraging, welcoming, and loving.

Why We Want to Adopt While we were dating, Sharon saw a story on the news about Romanian adoption. We discussed it, Lee talked about his own adoption, and we agreed adoption was something we wanted to do. We have been trying to conceive. Even though we still have other medical options left, we decided not to pursue them. We have always talked about adopting, so it was obviously the next step for us. We were both raised in loving families with wonderful supportive parents who sacrificed for our future and successes. Sharing that same kind of love and support is our desire for our children. | California! | Bermuda!

Our Home and Community We have owned our home for ten years. It is a single level home with three bedrooms and a bonus room upstairs with a half acre back yard which is part of a community surrounded by horse farms. We have done a lot of work on both the house and the yard of this home. We recently remodeled the kitchen and the master bathroom , doing a large portion of the work ourselves. Our climate provides warmer springs and summers ,and winters which include snow only every few years. Our neighborhood is in one of the best educational districts in our state. A pond with ducks is located at the opposite end of this close-knit community. Our neighborhood includes a park area with a swing set and jungle gym. We love to walk our dog around the streets and visit with our neighbors. | Lee, our nieces and Charlie in the backyard. | The front of our home.

MY HUSBAND, LEE The first time I saw Lee, I did a double take. His handsome features caught my eyes. Once we began dating, I realized his true beauty comes from within. Lee is an extrovert, and people are drawn to him. He truly listens to others, and they know it. He is my best friend, and I can tell him anything. | Lee is an only child and is very dedicated to his parents. Even though they live seven hours away, we visit them at least five times each year. Lee is always willing to volunteer to help others. He will stop on the side of the road to help someone push a broken down car, help someone move, help paint a house, and more. A few years ago while I was working with world changers on a mission project in the US, he was in Mexico volunteering on another missions trip. He learned to sing in Spanish, paint faces, and make balloon animals so he could reach out to the children he met. | Lee in Mexico! Lee in Mexico | Lee poses as President!

Together, Lee and I have watched our nieces grow from infants into young ladies. We often keep them for a week or two over the summer. I still remember the time Uncle Lee was placed in time out for chasing the girls around the house when I had asked them not to run inside. | On another visit, Jordan, our niece, lost a tooth. Lee got to be the tooth fairy. He crawled into their room on his stomach so he wouldn't wake them up and left the money. Lee is a big child himself. Children adore him. I still remember when one of our nieces wanted Lee to ask me if he could come out and play with her during a visit. Despite the fact that we get the girls typical girl toys, Lee also makes sure they get hot wheels, forensic books, and remote control cars if that is what they want. | Lee and Jordan building. 8: My Wife, Sharon Sharon's compassion and dedication are what set her apart. She has taught school in a public high school, at a technical college and at a small Christian high school. She taught English, led the yearbook staff, and worked as a guidance counselor. In that time, she became a part of her students' lives. Students she taught years ago still keep up with her on facebook ,and she loves to see what is going on in their lives. | She attended her students' sporting events, had them over to our house for movies and games, gave out her phone number so they could call for help with assignments, and has attended some of her students' weddings and baby showers. She has even gone caving and jumped out of a seventy five foot tree at an adventure camp with the senior classes. Her love for her students is easy for all to see. When she speaks of her students, she calls them her kids. | Sharon and Lee after caving with her students. | Sharon at her desk on a casual day at school.

Sharon has always loved children. At family events she is always sitting on the floor with the kids. When our nieces come to visit, Sharon walks them down to the local park and takes them swimming at a friend's home. When Kayla got sick during one visit, Sharon slept with the girls so she could check on her during the night. | Sharon is a giving person. She plans on being a stay-at-home mom. Currently, she is not teaching, but she has been volunteering instead. She works at a clothes closet sorting clothes one day a week. Another day, she volunteers in a thrift store whose profits go to support scholarships. One of my proudest moments for Sharon was when she walked a marathon (26.2 miles) to raise money to battle leukemia. | Sharon with Kayla and Jordan. | Goofing around at a wax museum.

Sharon's Family Our home is about twenty minutes from Sharon’s parents, Jackie and Pat, and her brother, Patrick. Sharon’s sister, Charlene, her brother-in-law, Eric, and our nieces Kayla and Jordan are about an hour away. Sharon also has numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins from both her mom and dad's side of the family. Every few years we try to take family vacations with Sharon’s extended family. We love to get together to eat, visit, and play games. Games of Scattegories and Taboo have been known to last until the wee hours of the morning. | Holiday 2008 Sharon's family | Maine Trip with family | Sharon's dad, her sister and her family.

Lee's Family Lee’s an only child. His father, Tommy, is also an only child. His mom, Betty, is one of five siblings. When we go to see them, we often visit some of Lee’s extended family. We usually try to go during Fun Fest which is a summer festival in the area. All of Lee’s extended family members come over to his parent’s home to play croquet and watch the fireworks. Lee and his parents love to watch college football together. We have done some family vacations with them as well | Betty and Tommy at Christmas | Children opening gifts at the Mountain Christmas | Sharon with Lee's aunts and uncle.

Excited! When we told our families we wanted to adopt, they were THRILLED! Sharon’s parents are ready to be grandparents again. Since their granddaughters are now both teens, they are ready for a baby. Sharon’s mom loves to sew and has already made us a baby quilt. | This baby will be the first grandchild for Lee’s parents. They have already been saving pennies in a giant jar to start a bank account for their grandchild. Our nieces are already jockeying to be the first to babysit our first child when he/she arrives. | Sharon and her folks on a recent vacation. | Lee's parents on their 50th anniversary!

The Holidays Both of our families enjoy the holidays and the celebrations that go with them. We rotate with both families for the holidays. At Lee's mountain Christmas the adults exchange gifts and the kids get small gifts from everyone. One of Sharon's familiy's traditions is to give each child a unique ornament each year. Then when they are grown and start their own family, they have a huge ornament collection. | Mountain Christmas | Lee and Charlie | Christmas is in the bag!

We had wonderful childhoods in middle class families. Our loving families cared for us and encouraged us to get involved in activities at school and church. Our parents instilled in both of us the value of hard work, education, and family. | Both of us were encouraged to participate in many activities. From piano, to dance, to band, to debate club, to soccer and scouts, we were both allowed to explore the strengths God has given us. We can’t wait to pass on our experiences to our precious child. | As adults, we have been able to do extensive traveling within the US and abroad. We can’t wait to share future trips with our little one. We must admit, one of our favorite places is Disneyland. Even though we do not have children yet, we have gone there five times during our marriage. The last trip was Lee’s birthday present from Sharon.

Friends We enjoy going out to eat, vacationing, cooking out, seeing movies, and bicycling with our friends. Many of our friends have either created or added to their families through adoption. They have been helpful in encouraging us through the adoption process. Two of our friends just picked up their daughter in Oklahoma this weekend. We’ve also been getting advice from other friends with children. We have even been to baby stores to begin looking around. | Lee's Birthday Party! | A group of our friends. | A friend's party!

We both want to thank you for taking the time to learn about us and allowing us to open our hearts to you. Rest assured that we will raise your child with unconditional love, laughter, the best educational opportunities, financial stability, and fun! We plan to share with your child the wonderful way God brought him or her into our family. We will teach him or her that adoption is something to be proud of because it shows HOW MUCH two different families loved him/her. Our son/daughter will share with his/her father a very unique bond. Your love for your child is evident through your consideration of adoption. We pray for you, your baby, and for the family who will raise your child, whoever they turn out to be.
