Friday, January 1, 2010 New PJs! Madelyn started the new year tonight with her new PJs Amanda gave her for Christmas! They are SO comfy! She is talking a LOT now. Constantly rambling and squealing! | Saturday, January 2, 2010 I'm Trapped! We had a busy day today. We woke up and had a day out on the town. Kohls, Party City, Wendy's, Target, Dollar Tree and Wal-Mart! WHEW! We found a few good bargains and even found the perfect bathroom mats for Madelyn's new big girl bathroom (pics to come later). Madelyn was playing outside of her ball pit and flipped it over on herself. Too funny!
Let the Celebration begin! | Sunday, January 3, 2010 What's for Dinner? Baby on a table. | Tuesday, January 5, 2010 Bundle Up! We thought it was cold yesterday (when these pictures were taken)! This morning it was 15 degrees!!!
The Birthday Girl | Last night when I went to check on her before I went to sleep, both arms and one leg were between the slats hanging out of the bed. By the time I ran downstairs to get the camera and got back up there, she had already moved! I took a picture anyway. | Wednesday, January 6, 2010 Go Trojans! Troy plays their bowl game tonight, so Madelyn wore her new Troy University shirt! GO TROJANS! | More new PJs!!! Pandas from Manda!
Thursday, January 7, 2010 Schools were closed today, so Madelyn and I stayed home. It started snowing about 10am! | To keep the streak alive, today Madelyn is wearing her Alabama outfit, with a few more layers. | ROLL TIDE!!! #13!!! Congratulations to The University of Alabama, the state of Alabama, the SEC and all the fans! We ARE the National Champions! WOO HOO! And after that game, I felt like I played, too! Madelyn had her oatmeal pie! That's what pulled them through! | The National Championship fan squad! That is Ingram behind the glare! #22!! WOO HOO!!
Madelyn tried to put her bib on herself the other night. | After her bath last night she pulled everything out of the toy box and then called a few people. | Her phone makes animal sounds, too...kind of weird to hear a phone moo. | Watching the Milo's commercial, her new favorite.
Party Time! | Friday January 8, 2010 Fashion Plate! Look at this little dollface! New hair bow, blue jean jacket AND purple shirt! Whew! Color coordinated! | I finally got a pic of her sleeping on her back. | With all the new toys she got for Christmas, we had to move a few out of the den. She saw this one in our bedroom this morning and you would have thought it was NEW! | And the genie is not a toy, but I could not convince her of that. | She played with these forever this morning. I just laid in the floor and watched her (and took pictures). | She is so smart. | And patient (unlike her mama). | It took everything I had not to lean over and kiss her face about 100 times.
You wonder how she usually ends up with one sock on? This was Saturday at lunch... | Where's your nose? HONK HONK! | And then she pulled it off ;) | Monday, January 18, 2010 Sick Day Madelyn's school called me today and told me she had gotten sick. She didn't have a fever (99.1), but lost her lunch (twice) so I went to pick her up. She slept for two hours when we got home and woke up happy as could be. She played all evening until supper and bath time. | Guess what she has started doing?? WALKING! She takes more steps every day! | She loves throwing the balls outside, then throwing them all back in! | Oh yeah, sometimes she kisses the floor... | STAIRS!!!! (And yes, she has on one sock again. I gave up after putting it back on 14 times. I promise her foot was not cold.) | She learned how to crawl up stairs this weekend at Gigi and Papaw's house. And found our stairs today. Oh goody. | I only took one picture and then ran back to her. She has a tendency of turning around to look at me and...well, I am always there so she hasn't fallen yet. | Time to get the baby gates out!
Monday, January 18, 2010 Open Wide! She ate well tonight (chicken sticks, bananas and nilla wafers) but she didn't go to sleep easy like usual. She tossed and turned, then cried, tossed and turned, then cried. So I rocked her for a little while and she finally settled down. Hopefully she will sleep well tonight and feel better tomorrow. | Her big ol' noggin is a little big for this cute hat, but that doesn't stop her from wanting to wear it. | She feels cool with it on. She is also trying to bring the 'one sock' look back. | Wednesday, January 20, 2010 6 days until she turns 1! If this face doesn't brighten your day, nothing will. | She still loves to dance. | She went back to school today. She feels much better and had a wonderful day and night yesterday. | She took about 5 steps, all the way to me! | 5 days until she turns 1!! These were actually on Sunday on our way to go shopping. She got to wear her new warm jacket from Gigi and Papaw. She loves it!
Friday, January 22, 2010 4 days until she turns 1!!! School called us today and told us Madelyn had fallen and bumped her head. They put ice on it and she was ok, but it left quite a bruise. First of many falls now that she's walking. She hit the side of the rocking chair, so it is a long bruise. I guess I shouldn't have taken these pictures while she was eating corn and sweet potatoes. She gets a little messy sometimes!
3 days until she turns 1!!! The morning of her birthday party!!! She stayed in her PJs until almost lunch! She kept herself pretty well entertained most of the morning while we were getting the house ready for the party. | Playing a little more before she takes her last nap before the party! | She got a new tambourine! | NOISE! (I mean music...)
Born to Party! | We decorated all day! The colors were pink, white and silver. We based the theme off the pretty awesome invitations that were custom made ;) | There were 30 balloons inside and outside the house.
Susan and Lyla | John Kirkham | Alex | Laura and Claire | Carter
It's time open presents! | BOOKS! You can see by her face, she was very excited!
 Cut the Cake!
Make a Wish! | I can not believe she is going to be 1 on Tuesday!
Sunday January 24, 2010 2 days until she turns 1!!! Today we had a very lazy, rainy Sunday. We napped and played with all her new (and old) toys. We had dinner and a bath at usual time and she went to sleep before I even got her upstairs to lay her in her bed. | She practiced walking today A LOT! | Turning her heater on. | Getting her bed time patsy. | Time to brush her hair. | OH, she looks so pretty! | She has her backup patsy, too | Oh, she just couldn't decide which one she wanted. | She had to go through her sock drawer for a few minutes. | Ok, now, ready for bed. Tomorrow is her last day as a 0 year old. | One day until she turns 1!! April sent a gift to Madelyn. She loved the books and baby instantly...well, it took a minute to love the baby.
Tuesday, January 26, 2010 Birthday Girl! I think I took 100+ pictures this morning! She was so cute in her birthday outfit! | It is amazing how much they grow in a year. She has gone from a helpless little baby who can't even focus her eyes on you, to an independent (or at least she thinks so) walking, talking doll face who thinks she can do anything. She reads books, goes to sleep easy, sleeps all night, eats EVERYTHING (especially whatever I am eating), plays independently and learns something new every day! This morning when she was leaving for school she blew me a kiss, waved goodbye and held up one finger when I asked her how old she was. This year has flown by and I loved every second of it!
Aunt Amanda came to visit Madelyn on her birthday! | She wanted to help clean up her mess.
One Year Doctor Visit The doc visit went very well. She is developing perfectly (of course!). She is 28 1/2" long, 18 lbs and 3oz, and her head is 18 1/2" around. She is in the 50% for height, 25% for weight and 75% for head circumference. He said that is normal now that she is walking and he would much rather her be smaller than too big. He said the more she eats solid food and less milk, she will get back up to the 50%, but she is perfect just like she is. He said her development milestones are perfect, if not a little above average. She got her finger pricked (and didn't even cry!) and her red blood count is fine, but he wants her to stay on the iron so they get larger. She is responding well to the iron, so it will continue to help. But all that said, he wouldn't consider her anemic anymore. WOO HOO! She got three more shots. She only cried for just a second while they were sticking her. I have officially breastfed her for the entire first year! WOO HOO! No formula and only a small amount of whole milk in the past few weeks. I can start weaning her immediately. He said whatever was comfortable for me. She is ready for whole milk with every meal and twice a day from a sippy cup. (She took two of her bottles from a sippy cup yesterday, so that should be an easy transition.) So there isn't really weaning involved, it is just a slower process for me than her! WOO HOO!! He did say that she had an ear infection in both ears. She was pretty fussy at school yesterday, especially after nap time, and even though the ears may not be hurting (so she is still eating and sleeping fine) the pressure builds up after she has laid down for a while, so it hurts after her naps. He gave us a prescription for a week of antibiotics to knock it out and she will be as good as new!
Baby at School Wednesday at lunch I dropped by school to visit Madelyn. For some reason I just wanted to see her and when I got there she was crying. It must have been pressure in her ears. I am so glad I went to visit so I could make her feel better.
