How we got Here | Jeff and I decided three years into our marriage that we were ready to start trying to get pregnant; little did we know it would take another three years for it to happen. It was a hard road to travel, but it made us so much more grateful and it opened our eyes in so many ways. Sitting here now we know we wouldn't have changed a thing and we are so much more thankful for what God has given us. After exhausting all efforts with Dr.Johnson, he sent us to Houston to see a fertility specialist, Dr. Grunert. We underwent invitro fertilization on December 10th, 2009 and we had one embryo "bb" to take hold and to begin growing into our beautiful baby......
How We Found Out | A few days after the procedure, I began to have indigestion, which I read was an early sign of pregnancy. However, we decided not to take an at-home test which could give us a false result and to just wait for the doctor's office to call us with the results from my blood work. So on December 23rd we got the phone call that gave us the best Christmas gift we could ask for!!
How We Told Our Family & Friends | The first person I called was my bff Melissa!! I didn't want to tell Jeff over the phone, so I waited until he got home and I gave him a bunch of gifts I had been collecting over the years that had to do with being a daddy! We then went to our family Christmas' with Jeff wearing his 'Rookie Dad' shirt. The hardest was waiting until New Years to make a trip to Ft.Worth to tell the rest of our family!! | 6 weeks
Being pregnant didn't keep us from traveling!! We went to New York for our anniversary, Detroit to see family and to Destin for a wedding. Being pregnant did slow me down a little. I had to take naps, prop up my feet, eat all the time and make frequent potty breaks!!
12 weeks | "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart" Jeremiah 1:5
January 7th was our first ultrasound and we got to hear the tiny little heartbeat; it was priceless. Jeff wanted to ask the doctor to let us hear it again before we left!! We got to have numerous ultrasounds and I was able to see bb on our machine at work whenever I wanted. It never got old or any less special! I could see him kicking and moving around even though I couldn't feel him yet and I was able to watch him suck his thumb!! | Ultrasounds | 34 weeks | It's a boy!! 19 weeks
I finally felt him move when I was 21 weeks. We were in bed and I felt little punches on the side I was laying on!! The feeling was so amazing!! After that night, he was always nudging me, especially when I was in a position he didn't like! Jeff liked to lay his head on my tummy and let bb kick him. As he got bigger, he would get the hiccups everyday. It drove me crazy!!!
Progress | All about Baby | My cravings changed each trimester! First Trimester: Mac and Cheese McDonald's Nuggets Second Trimester: Baked Potatoes Third Trimester: Steak Hamburgers The only cravings that lasted the whole pregnancy were drinking Coke and eating sweets! I also had terrible indigestion that got worse throughout my pregnancy.
We sold our house and moved when I was 28 weeks and that put us way behind on getting the nursery done!! Then to make it worse I was put on bedrest at 32 weeks because of high blood pressure. I was unable to get the house ready like I wanted to. Poor Jeff was going to school, working, taking care of me and having to do all the housework. Every week I would make out a to-do list and disperse them to anyone willing to help!! | I love owls, so that is what we did the nursery in!
6:08 p.m. | 8-9-10 | 20 inches | 8 lbs 7 oz | We went in for my appointment and my blood pressure was too high and I had gained too much fluid, so Dr.Johnson sent us to the hospital to have a C-Section.
 The Story of your...
Cullen Bristol Brantner | I was reading the book Twilight several years before I was pregnant and when I read the name Cullen I loved it and I told Jeff if we ever had a boy, that was going to be his name! Jeff decided after he told me Bristol,Connecticut was the home of ESPN,that he liked it for a middle name!
"I prayed for this child, and the Lord has granted me what I asked of him." 1 Samuel 1:27
Bringing Home Baby | We had to spend a few extra days in the hospital waiting for my blood pressure to go down. So when the day came to go we couldn't wait to get home! Of course as nervous first-time parents, I rode in the back with baby Cullen and Jeff drove incredibly slow!!
