S: Our Family Recipes 2010
1: This Cookbook is inspired by all of the talented cooks in the family.
2: Darlene Mitchell | Sausage Casserole | 1 package sausage 10 eggs slightly beaten 3 cups milk 2 tsp. dry mustard 1 tsp salt 6 cups cubed bread 8oz. cheddar cheese 1 tsp. black pepper *Assemble day before and refrigerate. Cook sausage in skillet over medium high heat. In large mixing bowl, combine eggs, milk, mustard, salt; stir well. Distribute half the bread evenly in a buttered 9x13 baking dish. Sprinkle with half pepper, half cheese, half sausage. Repeat. Pour egg mixture over casserole. Bake uncovered. | 325 | 55-60 | 6-8

4: Grandma | Pineapple Cheese Ball | 1 8oz. Pkg. Cream Cheese 2 Cup Chopped Pecans 2 Tbsp. Onion, finely chopped 1/4 Cup Green Pepper, finely chopped 1 8 1/2oz. Can Crushed Pineapple 1 Tbsp. Seasoned Salt
5: Cheese Ball Directions: Mix cream cheese, crushed pineapple, one cup of pecans, onion, green pepper, and seasoned salt until mixed well. Chill until firm. Shape into ball. Roll ball in remaining pecans. Can be frozen.
6: Apple Dapple Cake | 1 Cup Wesson Oil 2 Cups Sugar 3 Cups Flour 1 tsp. Baking Soda 1 tsp. Vanilla 3 Eggs 3 Cups Peeled Raw Apple (about 3) 1/2 Cup Chopped Nuts (any kind) 1/2 Cup Raisins (if desired) Mix and bake 45 minutes at 325 in greased and floured Bundt pan. Icing: 1 Stick Margarine 1 Cup Brown Sugar 1/4 Cup Milk Boil 3 minutes and pour on cake while warm.

When cooking, go by your own taste." ~Laiko Bahrs | Grandma | Potato Salad | 6 to 8 Eggs 6 to 8 Potatoes Mustard to Taste Mayo to Taste Chopped 3 Day Pickle Pinch of Salt 1 Medium Onion, Chopped Boil eggs, potatoes. Mix chopped eggs, potatoes, pickle and onions. Add mustard and mayo to taste.
10: 7lb cucumbers sliced and soaked in 2 cups lime in 2 gallons of water for 24 hours. Drain and wash well in cold water. Soak 3 to 4 hours. Drain well. Make syrup of 4 1/2lbs sugar, 2 quarts of vinegar (cider), 1 cup water, 1 tbsp salt, 1 tbsp pickling spice. Mix with cucumbers and boil for 20 minutes and pack in hot jars. | 3 Day Pickle
13: "There is no love sincerer than the love of food." ~George Bernard Shaw | Grandma | Turkey Dressing | 2/3 Cup Butter 6 Cups Bread Crumbs 1/2 Cup Onion 2 tsp. Salt 1/2 tsp Pepper 2 tsp. Poultry Seasoning 1/2 Cup Celery Combine all ingredients and stuff into turkey.
14: Coconut Cake 1 Box of White Cake Mix White Icing #2 Can of Crushed Pineapple, Drained 1 Coconut (Shredded) | Make cake according to directions (2 nine inch cakes). Let cakes cool. Ice middle layer of cake. Add crushed pineapple. Finish icing cake. Add remaining pineapple on top of cake. Cover cake in shredded coconut. From Grandma
15: Xavier's 40th Biirthday | Grandma | Chicken Salad | 3 or 4 Chicken Breasts Boiled 1 can 4 1/2 oz. black olives Mayo to Taste 2 tsp. Black Pepper 1 Cup Chopped Celery 1 Package Toasted Almonds | 6 | Chop up chicken, celery, olives in food processor. Crumble almonds. Mix all ingredients together.
16: Baked Spaghetti | 1 1/2lbs ground beef 1 Cup Chopped Onion 1 Clove Garlic Minced 1 4oz. Can Mushrooms 2 Tsp. Sugar 1 Tsp. Oregano 1 Tsp. Salt 1 Tsp. Basil 12oz. Spaghetti, Broken Prego Spaghetti Sauce 1 to 2 Cups Mozzarella or Cheddar Cheese Cook ground beef, onion and garlic until beef is browned.; drain off excess fat. Stir in spaghetti sauce, mushrooms, sugar, oregano, salt and basil. Bring meat mixture to boiling; boil gently uncovered for 20 minutes. Cook spaghetti. Mix spaghetti and meat mixture. Layer half of mixture in baking dish. Cover with cheese. Layer remaining meat mixture. Cover with cheese. Bake casserole at 375 degrees for 30 minutes. From Tammy Tufty
19: Swirly Macaroni Salad | 1 16oz. Pkg. Swirly Macaroni 1/2 Cup Oil 1 1/2 Cup Sugar 1 1/2 Cup Vinegar 1 Tsp. Salt 1 Tsp. Garlic Salt 1 Tsp. Accent 1 Tsp. Dry Mustard 1 Tsp. Black Pepper Parsley 1 Medium Green Pepper 1 Medium Chopped Onion 1 Medium Cucumber Cook macaroni and coat with oil; let cool. Heat sugar and vinegar until sugar dissolves. Add salt, garlic salt, Accent, and dry mustard. Mix. Add black pepper, parsley, green pepper and cucumber (add only a short while before serving). Mix and chill. Will keep 3 or 4 days. 21: Slow-Cooked Corn Chowder | 2 1/2 Cups Milk 1 Can Cream Style Corn 1 Can Cream of Mushroom Soup 1 3/4 Cups Frozen Corn 1 Cup Frozen Shredded Hash Browns 1 Cup Cubed Cooked Ham 1 Large Onion Chopped 2 Tbsp. Butter 2 Tsp. Dried Parsley Flakes Salt and Pepper to Taste In a slow cooker, combine all ingredients. Cover and cook on low for 6 hours. You can combine and refrigerate the night before. Dirt Cake 1 Package Oreo Cookies 1 Package Cream Cheese, Softened 3 Cups Cold Milk 1 Tsp. Vanilla 1 Cup Confectionery Sugar 2 Small Packages Vanilla Pudding 8oz. Cool Whip to Cover In a 9X13 pan, crush Oreo's with rolling pin. Put half on bottom, cream together sugar, cream cheese, add milk, pudding, vanilla, spread over Oreo's. Add cookies, top with Cool Whip.
23: Chocolate Chip Peanut Butter Squares | 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar 1 1/2 cups creamy peanut butter 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla 1 (18oz) pkg. Refrigerated chocolate chip cookie dough Heat oven to 350. In medium bowl combine powder sugar, peanut butter and vanilla; mix well Remove cookie dough from wrapper. With floured fingers, press half of the cookie dough in the bottom of an ungreased 8 or 9 inch square pan. Press peanut butter mixture evenly over dough. Crumble and sprinkle remaining half of cookie dough on top. Carefully spread as evenly as possible. Bake at 350 for 30 to 35 minutes or until golden brown and firm to the touch. Cool for 30 minutes. Refrigerate 1 hour until chilled. Cut into bars. Serve chilled or room temperature. From Anita Mitchell
24: Macaroni and Cheese Elbow Macaroni Mild or Sharp Cheddar American Cheese Singles Milk Eggs Butter Salt Pepper Boil macaroni. Drain. Add macaroni to baking dish. Add milk to macaroni just so you can see. Add as much cheese as you like. Chop up Cheese singles and add. Add butter on top. Sprinkle with Salt and Pepper.. 25: Baked Beans | 4 to 6 Slices of Bacon (Cooked) Beans Ketchup Mustard 1/2 Chopped Onion Brown Sugar Cook bacon. Cook onion in bacon grease. Add beans to baking dish. Add in bacon, onions. Add ketchup, mustard and brown sugar to taste. Bake at 325 for 15 minutes or till bubbling. From Darlene Mitchell
