FC: A Frog's Life Ashley M. Barham LIS 120 Final Project

Frogs lay their eggs in water or very wet places. Some eggs are big and some eggs are little. The eggs that are bigger are safe because they are too big and slimy to eat. The smaller eggs sometimes get eaten by predators. Can you point to the BIG eggs? small eggs?

Inside the eggs, organs and cells begin to form. The cell inside the egg splits up into many different parts. Can you name an organ that is in your body?

A tadpole is a baby frog. | The spitting that takes place inside the egg forms a tadpole

 A) Cheeseburgers | B) Algae | C) Lettuce | D) Hotdogs

What do you think tadpoles eat? Lets use the pictures on this page to help us make an INFERRENCE.

In 6 to 9 weeks tadpoles begin to grow.

Secondly, they grow arms. | First, they grow legs.

Thirdly, the mouth widens to the length of its head. The tadpole looks like a frog with a tail at this stage of development. | Can you pick out the three ordinals on pages 7-9?

It has now been 12-16 weeks and the frog has completed its growth cycle. | The amount of time it takes for a frog to fully develop depends on the amount of water and food that is available to them. | This process will start all over when this frog lays eggs.

Now that we know how a frog grows, let's take a look at a few different kinds of frogs...

There are over 4,000 types of frogs and toads. | Psssst...toads have stubby bodies and rough, dry skin. Frogs have smoother skin. Point to the Toad. Point to the Frog.

Fire Bellied Toads | Blue Dart Frog | Yellow-Banded Poison Arrowed Frog | Red Eyed Tree Frog

Some frogs have patterns | Not all frogs are green | Just like us, all frogs are different

Some frogs change colors. | Others are a solid color.

Frogs can jump over 40 times their length in one jump

Frogs breathe through their lungs and their skin.

 What colors do you see?
