1: A year down yonder

2: Richard Peck Realistic Fiction

3: "Grandmas place in the country" Late 1930's

4: A young girl moved from Chicago moved to live with her grandma did stuff way out of the ordinary.She did everything from pranks, trapping,killing foxes,stealing pecans,etc.She had to make it through bullies, harsh winters,town festivals, and school. She had a cat that was named Boostie, and a boombox or radio that she carried everywhere.

5: She eventually grew up and got married to a guy named Royce Mcnabb. To show how a girl had to adapt in a town that she was totally not used to. The author was showing how no matter what the conditions, anyone could live with it.

6: Grandma Dowdel- crazy old lady who the whole town is afraid of. She is not afraid to pull a gun on anyone including the sheriff. She fends for herself. Mary Alice-She came from Chicago, and not used to the country. She has a cat named Boostie, and a radio that she brought with her. She was a very nice young girl at the age

7: of 15. She started growing older, and got married at 18 to a guy named Royce Mcnabb.

8: Internal conflict- Mary Alice did not want to stay with her grandma. She hated it the whole time she was there, and she was missing Chicago. External Conflict- Mary Alice had to live in a room that was either very hot, or very cold. Sometimes if it rained from the side, it would get in her room.

9: Internal Resolution- There was not much of a resolution, she hated it nearly the whole time. She did try to get along with the town and her grandma. External Resolution- She got some of her grandpas old clothes to keep her warm, and she bought a fan to keep her cooler.

10: About the Author- Richard Peck grew up in Decatur ,Illinois. He won about 5 awards, and said he wrote from the teenage mind. A wrote a couple books dealing with the Dowdels. He now lives in New York City.

11: Recommendation I recommend this book to anyone who wants to have a laugh. This book is more of a positive book, and it will keep anyone interested. I thought the book was described very well.
