1: A is for alphabet. | There are 26 letters in the alphabet.
2: B is for backpack. | Students bring their books and other materials to school in a backpack.
3: C is for calendar. | A calendar shows the days, weeks, and months of the year.
4: D is for dictionary. | Dictionaries are books that tell what words mean. The words are in alphabetical order.
5: E is for eraser. | An eraser rubs away pencil marks.
6: F is for flag. | Countries, states, and even schools have different flags. This is America's flag.
7: G is for glue. | Glue is paste used to stick or hold things together.
8: H is for hole punch. | A hole punch is a device that puts holes in a paper when pressed.
9: I is for ink. | Ink is used in pens and printers to make permanent marks on paper.
10: J is for journal. | A journal is a personal record of writing about daily experiences. It can also be called a diary.
11: K is for kids. | Kids are students that attend school.
12: L is for lowercase. | Lowercase letters are small letters that are not capitalized.
13: M is for map. | A map is a picture of an area of the world drawn to scale on paper.
14: N is for numbers. | Numbers tell how many or how much.
15: O is for office. | An office is where the principal and vice principal (and other school staff) do work.
16: P is for pencil. | A pencil is used for writing or drawing. Pencil marks can be erased.
17: Q is for quiz. | A quiz is a short test.
18: R is for ruler. | A ruler is a straight device used to measure or draw straight lines.
19: S is for stapler. | A stapler is a device used to fasten papers together with a small piece of metal.
20: T is for test. | A test is a set of questions used to see how much someone has learned.
21: U is for uppercase. | Uppercase letters are capitalized. They are used at the beginning of sentences and in proper nouns like names.
22: V is for vowel. | The letters A, E, I, O, and U are vowels.
23: W is for writing. | Writing is putting letters, words, and numbers on paper.
24: X is for xeroxing. | Xeroxing is the process of copying papers in a copy machine.
25: Y is for yearbook. | A yearbook is a book made each year with pictures and information from that school year.
26: Z is for zzzzzzzz. | Zzzz is the sound of snores after a long day at school.
