FC: Advertising Journal
1: In this journal, I have collected over the course of the semester advertisements of print, magazine, and television from the 1950's to 2010. It was fun and in doing my journal this way, I learned the difference between advertising across generations. I hope you enjoy this as I much as I enjoyed completing this assignment.
3: This ad appeared on a billboard ad campaign for Calvin Klein. This ad appeared on November 9, 2009. Affluent adults were the targeted audience for this billboard print ad. This message made people feel sexy and free. Yes, this ad is effective because it entices people to buy Calvin Jeans to feel young and sexy.
4: This XBOX ad appeared on the XBOX website. This ad currently appears actively on the website. Young people who love electronic gaming and movies. This is a print ad. To entice and show the versatility of the XBOX. This ad is effective because it show that you can watch movies from Netflix on the XBOX.
6: This ad appeared in a gaming magazine and it appeared in May of 2008. The target audience is anyone who wants to get fit. This type of advertising is magazine print. The intent of this message to let people know that they can get fit in the privacy of their own home and have fun while doing it. This ad is effective, Nintendo has sold millions.
8: This ad appeared on television in the Fifties. This targeted young people. During the Fifties advertising was different as they went more with signage to draw customers to a product, in this case a diner. This ad is effective as the target audience knows that they can get food at this establishment.
10: This ad was a billboard print ad and it appeared during the Fifties. The target audience was males with a masculine attitude. The intent of this ad is to sale cigarettes to males. This ad is effective because it makes smoking seem cool and masculine.
12: This ad appears in a magazine and therefore is a print ad. The date is unknown for this ad, but it appears recent. The target audience is cookie lovers all of the United States. The intent is to entice people to desire this cookie. This ad is effective because it is one of my favorites and when I see this ad I want to visit the cookie aisle in the grocery store.
14: This ad appeared on television, but I could not find the date. The target audience is people of all ages as it encourages all to drink milk through uncommon means. The intent of this message is to encourage the consumption of milk. The ad is effective because most people would stop to watch the ad from shear curiosity.
16: This ad appeared on television during 2007. The target audience is adults in the thirties and older. The intent of the message to persuade people to quit smoking by showing them how expensive smoking can be. The ad is effective as it shows a car to symbolize the cost of smoking.
18: This was an ad the ran on television during the 1950's. The target audience was young patriotic men and women. The intent of the message was to promote patriotism. This ad was effective because it was colorful and portrayed good looking people showing loyalty to our country.
20: This was a television ad, date unknown, target young beautiful women. The intent of this message was to portray the intimate relationship between women and their shoes. This ad is effective women look at this ad they can relate to the feeling this woman has when she looks at her shoes.
22: This was a television ad from the Sixties. The target was school aged children. The intent of this ad was to help them visualize where reading can you. This ad is effective as it shows them there are no boundaries to where a person can go when the pick up a book.
24: This was a television ad during 2002 and the target was women of all shapes, sizes, and colors. The intent of this by Dove, was to show how a product can personify beauty in everyone. This ad is effective because it shows beautiful women of all shapes, sizes, and colors to achieve its message. This made the ad relevant to all women.
26: This was a magazine ad campaigned in the 90's, that targeted young healthy males. The intent of this ad was to show that men in uniform attract beautiful young women. This ad is effective because most young men would wan to join the Coast Guard to have a chance to date women such as the one displayed in this ad.
28: This ad appeared in print and on television early this century. This ad swept this country by storm. The ad target audiences of all demographics. The intent was to show how IPOD revolutionized the portable music industry. The effectiveness is clear due to the popularity of IPOD today.
30: Parent and Child magazine is published monthly. The date of this ad is unknown. The ad targets young mothers. The type of advertising is information of home and family specifically for mothers. The ad is very effective because it shows the average mother and child and provides advise of all types for mothers.
