1: In this book I will tell you about Ancient Greece. The book will include the social classes and government of Ancient Greece.So lets turn the page and learn about Ancient Greece.

2: Their were two major cities in Ancient Greece. The two were Athens and Sparta. For the government of Athens they had democracy which meant that everybody could vote. Athens had slavery and were ruled by aristocrats and tyrants. Athens were more of an artsy type than a war type but they were at war a lot.

3: Sparta was more of a war type. If you did not have a perfect body as a baby you would be killed, left on the side of a hill or become a slave. Sparta was in a lot of wars, also they were in wars with Athens.

4: Ancient Greece didn't have a three social classes but they had the slaves and the free people. To be free people you had to have been born in Athens. Those people could be in the government. They had to go in the Army and were expected to have jury duty.

5: The slaves were owned by free people and could not be in the government. They were either there by trade or they were captured by other Greece states. Then the slaves were a member of the family, and very little got paid for their work. They worked in the fields or in factory. The woman work in the house.

6: In the town of Sparta they had three groups of men. The men that were born in Sparta were the citizens of Sparta. Those men had to be in the army. They could vote to. The other men were called Perioikoi which were men that were not born in Sparta. The Perioikoi could trade and be in the army. Their family lived in some other town close to Sparta. The other one was Helots they were descendants for Sparta. They were the farmers, but they had to give some up to the government.

7: Democrat: A way of government which lets people vote for their leaders and laws. Republic: Where people vote for the representatives to be in office, and then the representatives vote on laws. Aristocrat: Which a few famous /rich citizens rule. Tyrant: One who illegally controls the government power.
