2: DRINKING AND FEASTING | The Anglo-Saxons also loved to feast. During feast the would play instruments, sing, dance and perform other entertaining acts. | The Anglo-Saxons loved to drink in excess. They would sometimes have drinking parties over the bodies of dead people waiting for burial.

3: THE MEAD HALL A Mead Hall was the heart of an Anglo-Saxon village. Those that were loyal to the king would gather in the Mead Hall to eat, drink and be entertained.

4: LITURATURE Liturature was an important part of Anglo-Saxon entertainment. They would write riddles that would be anywhere from 8 to 100 lines long. They would write stories that they would tell when people gathered at the mead hall. The most famous story was beowulf, which became the first book to be written in englsh.

5: SPORTS Swimming was a popular sport with the Anglo-Saxons and in competitive cases it was sometimes considered fair to drown your opponent. Some upper class citizens would participate in horse races.

6: GAMES The Anglo-Saxons played many different board and dice games and these pig knuckles served the same function as "jacks" do today. | For a long time it was believed that chess originated from Anglo-Saxons, but their are records of Eastern Europe playing chess almost two centuries earlier.
