BC: My Story By: Atticus Finch
Hi, My name is Atticus Finch. I am a lawyer and i live in Maycomb County. I love to read books and believe in equality. | Property of Atticus
I have two kids, a boy and a girl. My daughter's name is Jean Louise Finch and she is five years old. However, we call her "Scout." My son's name is Jeremy Finch and he is nine years old. He is affectionately known as Jem.
 My Children
This is Calpurnia, she is our cook and close family friend She is a great cook and rules with a strict hand. We call her," Cal " for short. | The Cook
Tom Robinson Case | Although my life is pretty simple, there is something that you should know, I was appointed to a case that involved rape. The defendant's name, was Tom Robinson. Tom was accused of raping a young woman by the name of Mayella Ewell. According to her testimony, she was beaten and raped as she screamed for help. Much of her testimony had numerous holes and evidence with theories that the rape was in fact false, but Tom was found guilty and was shot seventeen times.
A Close Call | Another part of my life has to deal with Tom again. I heard that many men were going to grab Tom out of jail and lynch him without a fair trial. I couldn't let that happen. I took the car and drove to the jail cell before they got there. When they arrived, things got intense, but I stood my ground. All of a sudden, Jem, Scout, and young Dill came out of nowhere and got in the way. Scout ran her mouth a little too much and to my surprise, said something a little far with Mr. Cunningham's situation with his entailments. To my amazement, it stopped the men from getting to Tom! Figuring that it was a long night, we decided to go home try to forget about it.
The Chicken from Tom's Dad | One memory that I will cherish forever would be that memory of the chicken that Tom Robinson's dad gave to me as a gift, as well as all the other ones. I never knew how much support was shown for me and Tom when I received this. This moment made me very emotional to the point of crying. I couldn't accept it.
One book that I love to read is My Dream. I read it once a month because it reminds me of those who are less fortunate. The book shares the life of Sylvia Patterson. She was a women that lived during the 1930's in the Great Depression. Sylvia had a disability that did not allow her to have kids. From the time she turned three, Sylvia knew she wanted to have a family. However, her condition left her alone. She had a husband who loved her dearly. But in the end, her problems took a turn for the worst and she died. Not only did she die, but she dies without any children. This story is very touching and inspires me never to take my children for granted. They are my world, my life and my inspiration. I love them so much and do not know what i would do without them.
"Atticus had used every tool available to free men to save Tom Robinson, but in the secret courts of men's hearts Atticus had no case. Tom was dead man the minute Mayella Ewell opened her mouth and screamed" (Lee 241). This quote ties in everything about me. I spent a while defending Tom Robinson, even though the odds were against us. I was determined to fight for justice and prove to everyone that Tom was innocent. Even though, in the end, Tom was found guilty and killed, I tried my best and did everything i could possibly do.
