FC: Jesse Owens

1: Jesse Owens was born in Lawrence county Alabama. His parents names were Henry and Emma Owens. Jesse Owens was not his real name, his real name is James owen. He got the name jesse from a teacher when she coulden't pronounce his name properly. While he was doing jobs he realized he had a passion for running. | INTRODUCTION

2: Personal Information | Jesse Ownes, father was a sharecropper and his grandfather a slave. Owens was a star sprinter at Ohio State University. Jesse started to love running when he was very little. He started to run on the Track team in high school. Jesse Owens attended East Technical high school. In high school Jesse had a daughter named gloria, Jesse Ownes got married to a girl named minnie in 1935 and they had two more daughters named Marleen and Beverly.

3: Jesse Ownes had many great accomplishments. Some of his accomplishments were setting a world record in the long jump that stood for 25 years. He also won four gold metals in the1936 olympics. Jesse Ownes was also famous because he was the first african american to win four gold metals in track and field. He established three world records and tied one. In 1974 he was inducted into the track and field hall of fame. During the olympics Jesse Ownes was competing against Hitlers men. Hitler claimed that his men would win against Jesse but, Jesse won four gold metals that day. | Accomplishments

4: WOW Facts | Jesse Owens records lasted for 20 years then were beaten. Owens had a stadium built at the college he went to in rememberance. He also had many statues built in his honor. He was the secretary of the Illinios athletic commpison in 1955. Jesse Ownes dies in 1980. He was the first African American to win all four events in the olympics.

5: Miscellaneous Information | Jesse Ownes was a weak boy that was often sick with a disease his mother called the devils cold. Running helped improve his health and made him stronger. He attended Ohio State University, which was was the college Jesse attended, he was discriminated there but, that didn't stop him from trying his best. Jesse was forced to live on the college campus. Charlie Riley was the first person to spot jesse Owens amazing skills for running.

6: Conclusion | IN conclusion, Jesse Ownes was one off the worlds best runners. He lived for 77 years, and in those 77 years he has won four gold metals. At the olympics he was against some of Hitlers men, Hitler was very determined that his men would win. Jesse Owens proved Hitler wrong by beating his men in all four events. Jesse will be remembered as a great athlete, a champion, and a great person
