3: This story takes place in a town called Messina, Mississippi, in the present time.
4: Neely Grenshaw was a star quarter back 15 years ago. They won many games and state championships. The head coach Eddie Rake was very tough, but he was a winning coach. Now Coach Eddie Rake is on a death bead. All his former players are returning to the bleachers to tell about their stories and how they loved, but also hated the man. When Coach Rake dies, Neely is chosen to speak about the coach. He talked about how great he was, and how he was there for him when he had an accident and was told he was never going to be able to play football again.
5: The authors central idea is to allow the reader to learn about a highschool football player who had a great coach, but had his dreams crushed when he got into a car wreck.
6: The main character in this story is Neely Grenshaw who loved football. He was a star quarterback about 15 years ago for his high school football team. Another main character is Coach Eddie Rake. He was in critical condition during the story. Neely and his fellow teammates back when he was playing hated him, but he was an inspiration in their lives.
7: Mal Brown was one the only black guys on the team. He was a running back who was great. One of Coach Rake's best players. Randy Jaeger was an offensive linemen. linemen are big, and usually pretty strong. Randy was a big redneck, who loved to drink lots of beer. He also cusses a lot in the story
8: The whole team has an external conflict with Coach Eddie Rake. He abuses them, and the team hated him!
9: Neely Grenshaw has an external conflict because he had an accident, and they told him some bad news. His internal conflict got bad because he couldn't play football anymore, and it made him sad.
10: D | John Grisham is a great author, and he has wrote many of great books. I especially like this book because it is in the subject that I like. John is probably my favorite author after reading this book.
11: I would recommend this book to anyone who loves sports. It is a great sports book that you will never want to put down. I can connect to this book because my brother passed away 5 years ago and the coach in the book passed away.
