FC: Weapons of the civil war by Cole Lewis and Wesley Holm

In this scrapbook you will learn of the many weapons used during the civil war. | Many of the weapons you will see in this book were either invented during the war or weapons that were used in the revolutionary war.

Civil war cannon Both sides wanted a better advantage on their side by searching for the perfect cannon .

These cannons were created to be able to be easily moved to one place to another, but also have a lot of power when shot . These cannons were more common in the civil war than any other war.

Civil war rifles the rifles of the civil war were not as popular as the muskets.

some muskets took a long time to reload... the North made over a million and half muskets for the soldiers. The only way a South soldier would get one is if they found one on the ground after it was dropped by a union soldier. Though powerful these weapons had poor accuracy so they were barely used.

civil war gatling gun Invented by Dr. Richard Jordan Gatling. This weapon was the first true machine gun used in warfare.

The gatling gun saw only limited use during the civil war. This weapon was capable of firing 600 rounds per minute with 100 bullets in each of the six barrels.. The gun did had a number of problems though. Sometimes the barrels weren't align which caused poor accuracy and the chamber system itself was both expensive and fragile.

The cap and ball revolver Invented by Samuel Colt this weapon was very popular in Texas during the war.

The Texas Navy were very fond of this weapon. Even though they were small and not as powerful as a rifle. These weapons were quick at firing and easy to reload. Most of these revolvers would fire six rounds a cartridge.
