1: Why do we use fetal pigs to study human organs?? | There are multiple reasons why we use fetal pigs to study human anatomy. Like humans, pigs are mammals, which means they share many of the same physical characteristics as us. Pigs have similar circulatory, digestive and respiratory systems compared to humans, and many of their organs are in the same location as they would be in a human, making it easy to compare to a human cadaver. Also, the organs are almost equal in size and shape to ours, simplifying the dissection process. In terms of the dissection, it is much easier to cut through the bones of a fetal pig than a mature pig since they are not as developed, which makes it easy to cut through the bone to reveal the internal organs. The skin of a pig is easy to cut through without much effort, which is much easier compared to other animals.Pigs are also not viewed as a pet as much as other animals such as a dog or cat, which makes it easier for students to dissect without feeling an emotional attachment to the fetal pig.
